Hey everyone,

I am 220-230lb and am looking to get new fork springs/shock spring for my KX450. But, I'm unsure of where to start.

I know Eibach makes replacement fork springs, but where do you guys buy suspension components like this?

I was doing some research and to try the .54 spring and 350cc worth of oil in the forks, but I wanted to see what other folks in this weight range use.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

I've had a couple of new gen KX450's and generally have stuck with the OEM springs. Rockymountain lists them for sale, otherwise Race Tech has good springs. General observation I have is that the fork springs are a little soft relative to the shock spring so you may need to go up two rates on the forks and one on the shock. Bumping up oil level TBD based on what kind of riding and skill level. I'd try springs first.

I have the same bike you do. I’m 6’3” and 220 and race +40 B MX. I have the optional .52 fork springs with 350ml oil in the forks. I have a 6.0 shock spring. I get the correct free sag measurements with this setup, and virtually no bottoming.
You might want to check Race Tech’s spring rate calculator to get you in the ball park. Unless you’re a fast A rider, I bet those .54s might feel pretty harsh.

You want stiffer springs but also the valving is soft stock, so just springs won't 100% solve the problem.

If you're gonna keep that bike another year or two then ship them off to Factory Connection or Enzo. You won't regret it.

All of them except honda's new 450.. It's my opinion, not saying it's a bad bike, just personally the worst suspension I have ridden.

It is super soft and fast. Works really good on super baked hardpack…if that’s what someone loves riding haha

It is very soft but I wouldn't call it bad, with the correct springs it is actually pretty good.

The physical components on the 2019-2022 KX450 are actually great. Essentially the factory 49mm Showas from years past. As Chirs said, use the Race Tech spring calcuator. I have also had great luck with Gold Valves in the 49mm Showas on both Honda and Kawasakis!

Total control set me up with .54 in the front and 5.8 in the rear, not sure of oil height, but I am 210lbs and had him set it up for vet intermediate, other than getting the balance sorted out initially it has worked really well, not harsh at all

I heard this as well. I just changed my oil and went with this. I can’t fathom how big, heavy, and fast you’d need to be to require the .54 spring OP was referencing, though.
