I am making a mistake selling my 18 FC450 Rockstar Edtion? I really am not a fan of the forks at all. Instead of buying cone valves I was going to buy a new KX450 and ad stiffer springs. I am 52 6'2" 200lb fast novice / slower intermediate mx rider. Race ocassionally but mostly ride tracks for fun. The Husky is supposed to be picked up on monday or tuesday this week. I could back out of the sale but that would be a dick move. Will I be happy with the KX450?

How much will you get for the Husky? And how many hours on it?

How much is the Kawi?

Not sure if it helps. I had an 18 fc450 then a 19 350sxf (cone valves on them). Bought a 19 kx450f. Done about 30hours on it. Im riding better then i ever have before. All ive done is had the suspension revalved. One thing to consider is the quality of the kx compared to the euro bikes isnt as good and euro bikes are more refined and easier to work on.

You won't miss that Husky. I've ridden the Husky with cone valve back to back with a bone stock KX450 (black coupler) and thought the Kawi was a superior bike.

Get some springs and a set of ARC levers on the green bike and have a happy life.

What are your current fork settings?
Sag / rear spring rate correct?
Imo set up correctly the WP air forks are amazing.

Not to thread jack but what does everyone find so great about the KX over the husky. I’m currently in a similar boat, considering a new one from one of the two brands.

There’s a thread on here of people who mostly love this bike . It has all the info you need. 2900 reply’s. I’ve never seen another bike on here that was that popular. It’s a bike that will make you faster because it doesn’t do anything weird. All the other stuff doesn’t matter

What I like about the Kawi over the Husky/KTM is the suspension and chassis comfort. At 5,9 160lbs and 35 B/C rider, it was almost perfect for me. I have Enzo valved WP cone valves and trax shock on my KTM and the Kawi stuff is prettyyyy dam close, stock out of the box!

The Kawi chassis was more comfortable and the engine was mapped really well. Crisp and very flickable. I was very shocked at how good the bike was.

Now, would I sell my bike for a Kawi, no. I'm too invested in my KTM and its set up very well with the suspension, clamp upgrade, exhaust and Vortex ECU. If I had to start over, I would be veryyyyy tempted to buy the Kawi or Honda because I would be way less out of pocket.

The Kawi is my favorite bike of all time! I also own a 2020 YZ450F and that is a great bike as well. The Kawi does everything well and once dialed.....it's an amazing bike. I think it's just a balanced chassis and very neutral on everything.

I would get the Kawi in a heartbeat but go to the KX450 thread and pay attention to what you read. You have to fix the little issues to make it perfect.

Full disclosure....i have had very few bikes that i didn't like.
