**update, local dealer let me have first pick of the 2020s they JUST got in today. turns out there's no changes to the 150 or 250f besides graphics and some valving settings. so I will NOT be getting a 20' as they are 700$ more than the 19.

options at the dealer which is 154miles away are....

19 150sx 6400
19 250sxf 7300
19 crf250 7000
19 kx250f 5350

all the 4 strokes will get approx 1300-1400$ in basic mods and setup/ergo parts and the 2 stroke to match my xci setup would need about 1100. id say if they were all the same price I wouldn't ever consider the kx but with my 18 450sxf making me very unhappy im hesitant that the 250f won't have the same issues of constant flame outs. My Rmz 250 with full exhaust has a very nice motor I like that pulls great down low and carries all the way to rev limiter. it could use more at the absolute top for sure but its very smooth and NEVER STALLED once, even in my woods loop. where my 450sxf stalled 20+ times in less than 30minutes.

I swore off Honda because I got a 12' crf250 when they first came out with the efi, I LITERALLY rode the bike ONE TIME and listed it for sale on the drive home. It would jerk when cracking the throttle. you had to accelerate at say 10% throttle or 0% no in-between would jerk like nobody business.

I have a 19 150xcw with head, v4r, and exhaust and thing RIPS. Selling my as new 450sxf because its just not for me to get something else for MX. Im thinking if I have the same bars, motor setup and even gearing and modded brake setup and riding position as my xcw each time I ride each bike ill be better vs riding a different engine, a 4 stroke, or a different brand bike.

Id rather get a new 18 150sx I think because then I could at least swap all plastics and seat etc back and forth where the 19 sx has different bodywork than my 19xcw that uses the 18 sx bodywork. if the 2020 sx is a better bike all around then I might be able to jump to that.

Local pricing is 6500 for a 19 150sx. no 18 left overs in 150miles.

If the 450 isn't your cup of tea? Yup, sell it.

I'd be patient on the new KTM 2 stroke issue...there might be some "changes".

Think Manny is referring to the EFI stuff possibly here in the next year or two.

All the contextual evidence suggests all KTM big bikes will be using the new TPI design. They were smart enough to make modular engines that can share base components. Keeps engine building more consistent for the factories and drives down mfg. costs. And the product sells itself.

I haven't seen anything official on the xcw lines for '20 yet from ktm they've released the xc n sx lines only so far. A large dealer in b.c. was advertising the 150 xcw as tpi for '20 along with the 250 n 300's.

KTM needs to go back to the “purpose built” (‘15) and not just a bored out 125.

I am a huge fan of riding/racing small bore two-strokes and I'm so glad they're making a comeback everywhere.
As far as the 450 goes, if you don't like it and don't need it, let it go.

On the other hand, I consider riding multiple bikes on multiple tracks to be an advantage over the long term.
Changing bikes on occasion allows you to be a more versatile rider and adapt your body position to suit a bike that has a slightly different setup.

I usually ride a 250 two-stroke, but often switch over to my 125 and have owned every Japanese brand.

Saturday, for the last practice moto of the day, I rode my buddy's Husky FC450-RE for a few laps, then switched back to my YZ250 and got back on the track quickly. My lap times were almost identical (within 1 second).

Lot's of people seem to frequent only one riding spot, or one track. Rather than building skill, they're just getting used to one set of conditions. If you push your comfort zone and spend time at all different kinds of tracks, you become a better rider everywhere. That philosophy has really improved my skill and also the amount of fun I have riding moto.

That's just my opinion, and I think it only applies if you are somewhat physically fit, and you ride often.

I have a MINT ‘18 SX 150 with 10 hours on it. Lectron Carb, V-Force Reeds, dubya set of wheels with Talon Hubs and A-60 rims/ MX33’s. The wheels have about 20 hours on them, they were on a different bike, before I put them on this one. I sold the stock wheels to a buddy, or I’d pull them off and sell them. (They are straight and true) I have an X-Trig adjuster on the shock.

I have a bunch of extra parts that I removed to sell as well. If you’re interested in the bike, or parts you can email me @ Langhammx@sbcglobal.net

I sure wouldn't let 150 miles stop me from getting the bike I wanted but I understand that things are different in PA... I went to Jr. High in State College. Out there, in NM, though, I live on a remote ranch and drive 30 miles one way for groceries. It was a 212 mile one-way drive to get my son's '19 150 SX and 180 miles one-way for my '18 150 XC-W. We drive 250-400 miles one-way for races on weekends. So.... 150 miles for the bike I wanted? Pffftttt.....

Personally, I'd get the cheapest bike that's good enough and dump the $$$ savings into it. My XC-W was a leftover in Feb and was $2000 off, money which I'm now throwing into Kreft suspension.

Just my opinion but I love my exc-f with PDS, it works well. Granted I don't ride mx on it (as it isn't intended for that anyway) but it does well on offroad whooped out sections.

I ride everything from my closest riding place, Sandy Oaks(see what Bob Hannah, Jimmy Weinert, Broc Glover say about this place. Listed as the roughest track ever. All sands whoops non stop, fast paced either single track or MX https://www.vitalmx.com/forums/Moto-Related,20/Missing-history-of-a-lon… ) to hard enduro in Colorado at the Taylor Park area. PDS just doesn't work for me, never feels settled, but if it works for you i say ride it.

haven't been on a dirtbike since 05-06 from some major wrist injuries was told id never ride again, and I was in daily pain for the last decade... just started riding this past xmas. dont have any riding friends so have bought a half dozen bikes to see whats changed and what I like. I like my 19 150xcw motor, gearbox and ergos are great. I will not be selling the xcw because its fully sorted out now with 20hrs on it and because im into it for 10.5k and in a year its not even going to be worth 6k. So its with me till the grave. Looking for another shredder mx bike and this is the only rev happy motor on the market. so its gotta be a 150sx just which year...

Don’t be jealous, you have a permanent invite and my #. Lol

To the OP, if you are going to continue to ride the 2-strokes, I highly recommend a Lectron carb. Unless you end up with a TPI bike.
