So i know the 2018's are still fresh and the hot topic. However i am curious about some of the things i 've heard as rumors for 2019. I am mostley concerned with Kawi rumors of spring forks, electirc start, and hydraulic clutch for 2019. I've heard that they are moving towards this from a couple different sources now, has any got some good insight into this. I know a lot of the teams in japan test features that we come to see years later?

Has anyone seen any new pics of a kawi 450 for '19, or heard and official literature?? Or for any other bike in the same class? I'm super curious to see the new 2019's, and if Kawi has done any work to their flagship to pull it back in the lead. ?
I'm tempted to go to my local magazine store and see if there are any sneak peeks in MXA or similar mag.
Nothing yet. Ive heard we will see something this summer

I️ would bet we see the new Kawi just before the start of the ‘18 All Japan Motocross Championship next month. There was some talk they might have rolled it out for a final round or two last year so they have long since completed development.

Just because they developed something in 2005, it doesn't mean they've been studiously working on it since. Does that mean Honda's been working on oval cylinder CRF450s since 1978?

I think the horizontal shock was shelved, for the most part, due to Jan De Groot passing away. One mx publication suggested it was going to come standard on the 2005 bikes .
Could be there horizontal shock was shelved. The reason I️ think there’s a chance it did not was that 1) that patent drawing is from a year or two ago and 2) the ‘19 Kawi was described by someone as “revolutionary, not evolutionary”. Guess we’ll see soon enough.

I can't wait to see the 2019 Kawasaki.

I expect a lot since the 2016-2018 was more of an evolution from the 2012-2015.

I too. I have my 16 Kx450 for sale. Getting ready for the 2019. Anticipating spring forks and estart.

I expect that the bike will have e-start. Anything else would be a massive disappointment.

This is what i would want to see:
E-start, better forks(they don't have to be spring, just better. The WP AER is a good fork and it's an air fork), better brakes that can compete with Brembo, more nimble and lighter feeling, hydraulic clutch.

I feel as my 16 is fairly light and nimble. So no complaints there. But id agree with the rest of your post. Still hoping for spring forks, but airs wouldn't be a killer.

I️ think e-start and spring forks are a given. Excited for what they do above and beyond.

Yeah the current Kawasaki is not heavy and it feels pretty light. But i feel like there is still more potential in the current KXF 450 to be even lighter and more nimble!

Well, those are the parts that i would like to see improved on the Kawasaki. That could maybe make me consider getting one for the next season.

I get the feeling that the revolutionary 2019 Kawi 450 will be the first to make the step up to challenge KTM for the top spot ...especially in the weight department and engine performance since they were already dam close with the 16-18 bike shaving off like 7.5lbs and is the 3rd lightest bike in the 459 class by a comfortable margin. The Honda 450 was the first to get close but still very heavy on the scale regardless of how light it acrually feels in motion.....KTM/Husky has set the standard though.

Kawasaki has “Harbor Freight” quality according to a tester on Keefers 18 450 shootout.

The '19 Kawi 450 is going to be a great bike. Lots of changes. I think it will compete for shootout wins. More news should be out June or July.

Has Yamaha's manufacturing costs really jumped by $1200 over the years? I mean, I'm sure it's possible, but it isn't like they have been dumping R&D into these.
No, the banksters printed trillions of dollars, so your dollar is worth less vs. the Japanese yen.

I heard from a Honda rep to expect a couple of manufacturers to go away. Wouldn't surprise me to see Suzuki bite the dust, they have been living on fumes for a decade.

If kawi does have a new bike for 19 it goes against MXA Jody's "4 year rule" of japanese development. He must have been snubbed by some japanese engineers because he used to call yamahas engineers geniuses but now he says they have "abandoned " motocross. Abandoned: new bike, paying a lot of riders a lot of money.

I already have one, 2017 SXF 450

My three options for 2019 are the SXF 450, SX 250 or KXF 450. I will most likely get a KTM since i have so many parts that will fit the 2019.

I certainly am no insider, but I heard a rumor about yellow smokers for 2019. I'm not getting all fired up, but that would be very, very cool. When can we expect the news to drop regarding 19' models?

I️ think the current bike is great. Plenty fast, corners well and is light. The trick will be if Kawi can bring spring forks and e-start without gaining weight.

That’s where I am at with mine right now, I really like it and have it working well enough I don’t try to change anything anymore. I really want to do the spring conversion and throw a PC Ti6 on it just for grins but that is going to be about 13-1500 dollars I can put towards the 19 if it is going to be “all new!”
