Thanks for the link man ! Hopefully is Keefer right (and you too Michael) !

The button is not such a big deal for me, I had the new generation 350 sxf (it was a 16 model) the battery was just a nightmare. Had to replace it a few times before I finally decided to get rid of the bike. At that time the upgrade to the biggest battery wasn't possible. Plus I don't really need the additional weight...

I recently contacted my Yamaha dealer, according to them the first infos about the new bike should be released around february/march 18. Patience ..

I have a pretty good feeling that they are all nightmares at some point. Anyone tried to start a ttr-50 recently? Adding a bunch of unnecessary complication to bikes that were already tedious to maintain doesn't seem like a good way to attract new riders to the sport.

If you buy new it's not a big deal, but the market on used bikes will probably take a hit.
I don’t have any problems starting my daughters. Had it for two years now and I’ve never had to put it on a charger. It sits 95% of the time

Doesn't seem like the Japanese have it figured out yet though. The 2018 crf450 weighs almost 20 lbs more than the 2009; that's just not acceptable from my perspective.

I agree id like it to be optional for weight savings AND cost of the bike new. I have zero problems kickstarting my bikes and im not an AMA pro chasing a title so it would be unnecessary to someone like me

No way that's possible. I rode a 12 CRF450 and 18 CRF450 back to back. The 18 was noticeably heavier.

Some people notice the weight, some don't. It's honestly all personal preference, and personally I don't mind kick starting my 2017 if it is saving me seven pounds out on the track. Agree to disagree. Either way I'm not buying one until it's at least down to 230 with starter and battery. If the bike wasn't almost ten grand that would be another thing, but it is (here in SoCal at least).

When can we expect the first infos on the new bike? I don't know at which period of the year yamaha is presenting their new bikes.

It was May for the 2018 Yamahas so I guess we should expect the same this year.

Well I wish I'd waited for the 18. 450, electric start would make a huge difference to me in recovering from a get off in a race...only raced my 17 once so far, at a mud race and I dropped it once in each mot right when I was getting into a top 5 position only to have everyone pass me while trying to re start.
Sat on an 18 at my local dealership today...feels quite a deal smaller and less bulky and I was eying off the magic button...

On the other hand, I'd rather see the 19 250 f get all the upgrades the 450 got, minus the electric start.
That should equate to much lighter than the 17, along with less bulk and seat height ( I'm a shortarse! )

I'd happily have the 18. 450 though...

I have a 2017 KTM and the button doesn't mean that much to me. This is a 5 year bike for me and I'm worried when I get to year 4 - 5 what kind of issues I might have.

First sneak peak from the japanese championship of the new 450 was in May 2017?
Can't remember...

I just saw that kawi 'released' their new 450 at a local japanese race so I would expect the blucru to show their 2019 bikes as well. At least I wish they would..

The e-start is not a game changer to my point of view. I just hope for a new chassis and improved handling which I guess is the only weak point of the Yami. A new motor to match KTM's powerplant would be nice too ..

Totally agree. I was a huge supporter of NOT going electric. Bought an 18 YZ and will not go back. Love it. And it "feels" lighter than my 14 YZ.

Just my opinion. But the 18 YZ450 is probably the best "stock" bike I have ever rode. I literally have touched nothing on this bike since I bought it.

I'm listed as an A rider but at my age, might be mid pack B class these days, 6 ft 3, 235 lbs 49 yrs young and love this bike.

..........And did I mention the HP, perfect.
