Worried about safety in China?

The only danger is if you went there and acted like a f**kwit. Just like if you do anywhere. But the consequences of being said f**kwit, might be a bit higher in China than many other places........

Turkey - no problems. As others have said, it's a major tourist venue for much of Europe. Hell, they put up with a bazillion drunken Australians and Kiwis each year, celebrating invading their country in 1915, so they are largely a welcoming , tolerant bunch, despite Erdogan ( Sp?) pushing things to the 'religious rightwing' side. That's a sad thing, as Turkey has long been a buffer between the lunacy below ( and above in the form of Russia) and to the east of them, and the 'West'.

Though, for a US citizen, you pay about 2 or 3 times as anyone else for a China visa. Hong Kong, no visa fees for most people's. I'm quite fascinated by where the hell a 'Hong Kong' GP will be held. I'm pretty sure I'll go to the HK / China GPs. It will be good to go to somewhere other than Shanghai in China, which I've gone to for so many trade shows. ******bugger , I just realised it's in Shanghai - hey, it's past 3 in the morning here. Shanghai is an amazing place, and I've seen it change hugely in the near 4 decades I've been going there, but I'd like to see somewhere else in China******** Time constraints mean I'm probably only going to the Semarang GP next year, with the Indonesian ones, I think. It's a Great venue / track.

Asia is a Major , and ever growing market for Motorcycles, whilst the Western established markets are pretty much moribund, if not, dieing. Racing sells more that just the types of Bikes being raced. But, if just a poofteenth of a percent of the populations in Asia / India becomes interested in our relatively tiny sport, and decide to try it, we'll see growth that would utterly dwarf the 70s boom years.

Also keep in mind where ever the GP's go normally they have Government support and I'm sure they will work towards it being not only safe but making people possibly want to travel to those places.

And lets get real, Down town Atlanta , Detroit or Chicago are not real safe places. Most people go there and if they are not totally stupid nothing happens.

I'd suggest there is plenty of unrest in Turkey. As for China, how much news actually gets out (that they don't want us to know)?

millions of westerners travel to china without incident..

i can plow thru heards of chinese package tourists on my bicycle, cause they ignore my warnings and no one even yells at me..???

I hear ya. Like I said, I honestly didn't know so I asked. I know they previously held events in Mexico and while I used to visit there quite often, I'd no longer go back.

As far as Atlanta, Detroit, and Chicago... there are areas of all 3 that you absolutely do not want to be in. But the same can be said for pretty much anywhere. Some places are simply much worse than others.

Hey just relax this is the first of many 2019 GP calendars they will have through 2018 and 2019. It should always say subject to change until after MXoN. Lol.

Sucks that everything in this world is about money.

Patagonia is one of the best tracks I have ever seen (I have only seen it on the TV), and it wont be on the schedule.

Good racing, dirt, location is beautiful. etc etc.

Wasn’t one of the points of Combs and Luongos conversation a couple years back to get a USGP on the schedule permentaly? MXON 5 weeks after our last race. Not looking good for the USA.

So living in the US, I honestly don't know the answer to this. How safe is it to host events in Turkey and China?
China is ok, I wouldn't anywhere near Turkey.

It is all about who can pay the biggest "sanctioning fee" to host a race.

It's really odd that China gets two GP's. Is there big motocross scene in China?

24 million people in Shanghai and 7 million in Hong Kong. If you can't get a crowd there where can you get one?

But how many of those people are Interested in motocross? There is no top motocross riders from China and I think there aren't many hobby riders either... I don't there is much interest in motocross in that area. This is not F1 or MotoGP you know. Most of the motocross fans riders themselves

I think Ping should line up in MX2 at the Chinese GP on the Tornado 250. Smile

I would think the race would attract people simply because that high performance 4 stroke exhaust is probably the cleanest air around

Motocross in Britain in March? Bring your jetskis boys!
IT will be wild @ the basin in March for sure but i really enjoyed this year in the centre of summer, 32degrees, no clouds perfect racing, good crowd, great parties

March is likely to be 12 degrees if we are lucky , soaking, windy, miserable, tent full of filthy wet clothes, worst of all is that fact that hangovers stink in bad weather Laughing
