Maffenbeier is going 450 next year, so I believe Pillar's Kawasaki will be T. Medaglia and Maff in 450s.

Heard a rumour Facciotti may consider retirement if he wins the Triple Crown and the $100k this year. I hope not as I like watching him race, and he's the most capable Canadian in the series.

I doubt OTSFF Yamaha will have 3 riders next season, so I expect Goerke or Epstein won't be back with Nicoletti on board.

I'd love to see Epstein land a ride here in the states. He was in the discussion for getting the PC ride when Justin Hill turned pro, but Hill got the nod due to his relationship with Monster I hear. Epstein has potential to do damage outdoors on a 250 if he has a good bike underneath him.

Pretty sure Dylan Wright is/was considering moving up to the 450. Jess Pettis also needs a contract for next year.

Have to think either GDR or Monster Kawasaki will pick up Pettis. I don't think the MX101 team has that big of a budget which is why guys like Wright and Maffenbeier have gone on to new teams after having success with them.

I was told that Alessi’s contract runs through 2019 and I believe OTSFF is only going with two 450 riders.

^^^ Alessi is back for 1 more year for the Monster Energy Alpinestars Piller's Kawasaki team. Medaglia as well for another 2 years.

I believe OTSFF will be a two man team consisting of Goerke and Nicoletti.

No changes at KTM.

Why would Dylan do that? He can win races on a 250 but he's very inconsistent... He needs to fight for a 250 title before he moves up. It's not like there are tons of good rides and a lack of dept (vs 250) in the 450 class.

It's Dylan himself that expressed moving up to the 450 class. He prefers the bigger bike. I can see him staying at GDR as Colton's replacement if he retires.

Who knows, he might become more consistent once he's on the bigger bike. That said I don't see him winning a 450 title anytime soon. Too many good/consistent guys up front between Kaven, Thompson, Medaglia, Goerke, Nicoletti, Alessi, Colt. Battling for top 10's with Meston, Clason and the likes.

Like you said he really should stay in the 250 class. That's where he has the chance of winning races and a championship. If he can work out on limiting his mistakes and being consistent he can be a threat for the 250 title.

I expect to see Jake Tricco under the OTSFF Rockstar Yamaha tent on a 250 and not the MX101 FXR Yamaha team.

He's been on Yamaha's for years and I don't see them letting him go. He rode well this year and had pretty solid results at the National's as an Intermediate rider.

I know that OTSFF has no interest in fielding a 250 rider. How Yamaha's budget typically works is OTSFF is the 450 program and MX101 is the 250 program, hence why Canella went to MX101 even though he pitted with OTSFF at RJ's as an intermediate.

The only way I see Tricco going to MX101 FXR Yamaha is if Pettis moves to another team making Canella their number 1 rider which could be possible seeing as he finished 4th in the series.

I don't think they'll run a 4 rider team unless Yamaha kicks in a bigger budget or if they pick up some more sponsors. 3 rider team and I'm pretty certain Halstead & Canella are staying put.

As you know there isn't many teams in Canada where riders can shuffle seats. OTSFF ran a 250 effort in the past so they could do it again.

I know he won't be privateering the series and in my opinion Yamaha would make a mistake in letting him go.

I suppose the following scenarios could also happen:

-Colton retires, Wright moves up to the 450 to replace him at GDR, Yamaha once again fail to retain their champion and Pettis moves over to GDR.

-Wright stays on the 250 at GDR, Maffenbeier moves up to the 450 for GDR and Pettis moves to the Monster Energy Alpinestars Piller's Kawasaki team on the 250.

-Maffenbeier 450 at GDR, Pettis 250 at GDR and Wright 250 at Kawi.

-Maffenbeier, Pettis or Wright could also end up at Redemption KTM. I know Wright would like to eventually race SX so that would be a good gig for him since the team races SX. Pettis raced West coast SX last year so it could be a good gig for him as well.

I really wish Suzuki would come back and field a new team but I don't see that happening. That would at the minimum add 2 rides.

Suzuki Canada (unsure of exact date) moved their HQ to Barrie, On recently.

I see no reason why they couldn't field a team - even something along the lines of JGR where Suzuki piggy backs on a larger sponsor.

I know Royal Distributing is tied in with MX101 but that would make the most sense for Royal to spin out a team of Suzuki. One doesn't have to look far to see how poorly represented they are.

After this past weekend - certainly some shake up with regard to team layout for 2019.

Rumour mill

1. MAFF to OTSFF on a 450 alongside Phil;

2. Georke to Monster Kawasaki alongside Medaglia and Alessi - 250 rider?

3. PETTIS to GDR? or possibly Monster Kawasaki? now they have an opening on the 250 side.

4. Any others?

Wright 450, GDR Honda.

Colt, retires.

Not sure about Pettis. Looks like he'll be racing SX this winter with MX101 Yamaha.

I don't disagree with your assessment but do you have any inside knowledge on it?

High likelihood that he's retiring. Not confirmed and there's still a chance that he'll line up but I wouldn't put my money on that. With both those guys leaving, it's a pretty big blow to Canadian MX.

Kaven is having his first child and will still be involved with KTM in some capacity.

Man that would suck for MX101 if Jess leaves, how that would be two years in a row that they win MX2 titles only to have the champ leave for another team.

I could see Jess going to JDR though, especially if Colton retires.

I thought Maff had a deal to ride for Kawi on the 450 for 2019?

Likely old news by now but hearing Alessi to GDR Honda alongside Colt for 2019.
Yep. It's not really old news. Will be cool to see Mike back on Red after 5 years on Green.

Does anyone know what the plan is for GDR on the 250 front?

I heard it's likely Pettis will go to Kawasaki if he doesn't stay at MX101

I agree 100%
Same reason why Dylan Wright left for GDR.
I think he had more success at MX101.

Not sure. I know Wright expressed that he wanted to move up to the 450 but to be honest there's not that many 450 rides to be had so he might have to stay 250.

If he stays down I can see him staying put at GDR.

That said Maffenbeier is moving up to the 450 class so that leaves 1 spot open. If Pettis moves there (Kawi) than that leaves a spot at MX101 Yamaha. Seeing as they won the 250 title two years in a row I'm sure Pettis wants to stay there but business is business. If he does switch teams, who takes his spot? Does Wright go back there? They're a 250 only team so they need a second rider if he leaves.

There's a 450 spot open at KTM that was left vacant after Benoit announced his retirement. Thompson will be the #1 guy there so do they take a chance on someone like Wright?

Does GDR abandon the 250 in favor of running 2 450's with Facciotti & Alessi?

A lot going on.

Or does KTM stay with 1 450 rider and go after Pettis.

What are the payments in Canada. Do the top riders earn there something like 410 000 Canadian Dollar or less? Because there are some interesting European riders without a ride...

PS: A personal message with the answer is OK.

The top 450 guy could make around there with bonuses, but beyond that most are WAY below that. There's not many that would even make half of that...
