Unless it comes down to the money, it's kind of a no brainier. Unless you are well over 6ft. The Yamaha is about the size of an aircraft carrier and turns like one to. Snappier power though.
At 6’5” and rode the 18 Honda, Husky, and KTM and absolutely hated them. I can tell they are good bikes for little dudes but for me they are waaaaaaaay too small, to the point that they felt dangerous for me. I would have to make massive changes to make them fit and by that point they would probably be all screwed up. On the Yamaha I put the bar clamps in the forward position, put lower pegs on and I’m good to go.

That's exactly what I was trying to say. Hondas, Ktm, Huskys are all very compact. I can see why a big guy would like the yami better.

Just sold my 16 factory edition 450 and got this fresh one for $7999 otd, so far tearing it down, the hardware seems just as good or better than Ktm. The cockpit feels better to me also. Both good bikes, I was set on getting a new FE , but $2500 is $2500

Nice Jason!! We'll be roosting soon enough.

6ft tall and never feel cramped on my KTM. Kawasaki’s and Yamaha’s definitely have a larger rider cockpit, they also feel physically bigger.

For what it's worth, The yamaha is the sexiest bike out there IMO. I had a 2010 YZ450 for 4 years and loved the shit outta that bike. My 2018 feels so much lighter and handles like a ten speed bicycle in the corners. I'm 5 '7 184lbs and this bike feels overall. Yea weight is a big deal but nobody is bringing scales with them during a moto. The bike's weight is distributed very well so unless you are a money rider or very fast, you are not going to be able to benefit from the weight savings. Get a bike that makes you want to go into your garage like a kid everyday that cant wait for the weekend.

So you mean get a new 125 then? WoohooWoohooWoohoo
I wish I'd waited for the 18 yz 450. I'm starting to get my 17 to feel more comfortable in the corners though.
Trying a lowering link and raising the forks in the clamps this weekend

Dr. D radiator lowering kit made my 2010 feel a bit better. Lowers radiator an inch.

If it were my money I would buy a YZ450. That is hands down the most durable bike made. I’m pretty sure once the sag is set it will turn just fine. My .02

How's dealing with the 18 yz filter ?

Using dry filter skin over the skeleton. This is after 6 hrs track riding. No drop in performance , put a new one in. No tools required.

190% the Husky. Why? Build quality...It will take $$$ to get that yamaha close to the fit and finish of the Husky. Hands down handling and suspension is the best Ive had on any stock bike and Ive owned them all. Resale.....I just sold my 17 FC450 Bone Stock besides a rockstar kit and clutch cover for 8700. I only paid 9200 for the bike OTD brand new. Ive sold every used FE and my Husky for what new Jap bikes sells for. Personal preference Ive never gotten along with the vague front end of the yam's. They look sharp but Ill pass.

PS the weight alone is a huge deal Smile

None. The seal is good. I wipe it first and mini vac the crud around the filter before removing. Piece of cake

(The '19 FC will be available real soon)
is that a hint that the 2019 ktm's and huskys will be released early due to the low amount of factory editions produced this year ? or just advice to wait for the standard version to come out ?

My dad is 6'3 and loves his 17 RMZ450. For me, it feels small and cramped(I'm 6'2), but I ride a 14 yz450 so you can see why I'd feel cramped on it. If I were to spend more time on it and set it up for me, I'm sure there would be no problem other than how busy it can get at higher speeds compared to the Yamaha. It's a great bike though and I've seen some tall dudes ride them with no issues.

Actually the build quality of the austrian bikes is shit compared to the japanese bikes.
