Has anyone ridden one on an MX track? I'm really seriously thinking about getting one. We need bikes to be registered to ride in the bush legally in QLD and we don't have a scheme to get conditional registration for MX bikes. I ride MX:offroad at about 50:50 and I'm wondering if this can be a decent do both bike.

Honesty for me it was a pig, really heavy and wide and the e start made for odd engine carasticts, I just wanted a e start yammy mx bike and the WR has the best resale, go a 2019...

If I was going your route I would buy the Yamaha YZ450 FX or off-road model and register the bike for road, bush or whatever. Not sure of your rules but its VERY easy here in Washington State. The FX starts off being a better platform for MX and they are not difficult to wire up for lights etc. ThumperTalk has threads on it.

I can't get registration on a cross country model here. I'll just have to try to get a test on a new WR I think.

Why a WR over any Euro model? Going to always pay a weight penalty with a WR. KTM/Husky farkin dear as poison but maybe a GG/Beta/Sherco etc as it’d be similarly priced or only a touch dearer. Be prepared to wear the drop in value if you go to move it on though, with anything non-Kato

Resale, ease of parts availability mainly and reliability. I've been a Yamaha guy for years too and really like how they feel to ride. I had a 300exc for a year and just couldn't gel with it. Two minutes back on a YZ and I felt at home.
