Has anyone weighed a 150sx and a 250sxf ready to ride either full tank or empty tank? I know the claimed numbers but I really want to know if the difference is that drastic.

Real stats only no speculation please. This is for scientific purposes not bench racing haha

Thanks gents

I haven't put both on a scale but I do have a '17 125 (same weight as 150) and '15 250f. My buddy also has a '17 250f and yes the difference is that drastic

194 vs 218 194.5 on the 150

Take it to the limit, one more time!

Insane that husky/ktms are crushing the comp and they have better components like e start on many models , hydro clutch, billet hubs, best brakes offered etc etc

Jap bikes better wake up.

If it's for science then wouldn't you weigh them to ensure accurate values? kissing

Hard proof from you personally? cars and sportbikes all lie and just about everything else used for sporty purposes dry and wet weights are “optismitic” to put it politely

I was wondering (since I drive a lot for work) where are they saving the weight? If it's internal engine components, are they as strong as Japanese bikes in the long run? Is it in the frame/suspension? How do they do it? Lol

MXA claim to weigh the bikes, not rely on manufacturers claims.
They even mention, and sometimes picture, the scales they utilize.

Second only to weighing them yourself. Which is not straightforward without specialist equipment.

I bought a matching pair of bathroom scales to wheel bikes onto. I thought they would be accurate.
The results are not consistent. Thinking about it, I think part of the problem might be the digital scales “freeze” the reading when it thinks you have stopped moving. Better scales for bikes would just continuously read out, and you could take the readings once the tires were perfectly centered.

My OCD was making me seriously consider a professional set of bike scales.

I take a scale and put on top of the frame stand. Natural weight reading, press down with like 10lbs reading, lift up w about 10lbs reading then take natural reading again and if it matches the first reading I have confidence in the number

I like when my riding buddies talk about bike weight being important but they are about 50 lbs overweight.

It's still important. Saying it isn't is like saying a knife doesn't need to be sharp unless you're a chef in a five star restaurant.

The 17 150xcw is 225 full tank of gas. That would suggest the xcw is somehow 22lbs heavier than the sx is using the claimed numbers

ETC and no e start on the SX where the xc-w has e start.

Sounds a good technique.

As I mentioned. I think I bought the wrong scales, ones that “set” when they think the have the weight, not just read continuously.
Won’t work on my Husky 701 SM - wont sit on a frame stand - too heavy as well.

With an ~3 gallon tank that's about 20lbs in fuel.
