So which indoor facility does Chicago have that would be Supercross-compatible?

This is what I was wondering too. I'm not aware of any that could support an indoor race, but I could be wrong.

But don't let that get in the way of a petition. Wink

Seeing as how daytona'ish tracks are all the rage, I vote for the infield of Chicagoland in Joliet...

Nothing indoor because the city failed to have foresight when they remodeled Soldier Field. So it would have to be an outdoor venue. If they can run at the Meadow Lands and Gillette Stadium why not Chicago?

No indoor facility I assume is a dealbreaker. Lucas Oil Stadium is really nice, only a couple hours away, and has a roof...

Lucas Oil Stadium is a great venue and Chicago missed the boat on that one when they (re)built a new stadium for the Bears...Feld entertainment is the promoter and they are located just outside Chicago...that would be nice if that helped

Yeah...Chicago in the late winter/ spring. Great idea...I'm sure the racers will enjoy 20 laps in thermal underwear and puffy coats.

The worst part of the race was it was late at night and the wind was whipping out of the west, right down the starting area

They were located there. It's all in Florida now.

They raced in Joliet, IL in the 2000 Supercross Series, round 15 of 16 at Route 66 Speedway:

Look at the crowd size. It was freezing and no one was there.

In order to get more Northern cities in the series, the Supercross schedule needs to extend into late May/early June. which would encroach into the Nationals.

If it were late enough in the season they Soldier Field could host SX. Just would be a big gamble with the weather in April. If SX season was extended into June that would make a lot more sense Wink

I live in Chicago. I have to admit I laughted when I saw the thread title. The Cali based people moan when they go a little east and it gets a little colder. Not a chance of them coming to Chicago. Nice idea though.

They come to SLC in late April/early May. Sometimes you get snow, sometime you don't.

They could turn off the coolers at Byron.

It will be plenty warm with the prevailing wind.

Can't, in the funding agreement there is wording that no motorsports events would be allowed in Miller Park.

I wish they could do a Wrigley Field supercross, but timing of the schedule would not allow that.
