Searched for a while and didn’t find anything - so figured I would start a fresh thread.

2018 CRF450 - 26 Hours. Bone stock motor with XPR Vortex X10. Dual Yosh. Nothing else non-OEM.

Went riding yesterday, and it ran flawless first time out. Second time it began to sputter at or near the rev limiter when hot. Came in - racked my brain - and went back out to see if I could replicate it. Didn’t wait until hot, sputtered right away.

While running sitting on the stand, I got a long sequence of blue flashes on the kill switch. Didn’t count, but believe it was in the 7-9 range.

Decided to pull the kill switch apart and look for moisture. Got it down to the circuit board, and sure as shit - there was water. Pulled the tank and found the kill switch loom, unplugged that thinking I would be good to go. Started the bike again and ran great on the stand. Got geared up, and fired it up again and it blubbered to beat holy hell. Tried to crack the throttle 2-3 times to a huge bog.

Shut her down and loaded it up.

Here’s my plan:

Drain all the fuel - unplug every connector under the tank and hit with contact cleaner and dielectric grease. Reprogram the TPS with the Vortex instructions.

Has anyone else had a similar issue? Have any ideas?

Thanks for your help Bros

TP sensor malfunction?
That’s what I was thinking as well. I’m hoping that resetting it with the Vortex process and cleaning the connections fixes it.

Wonder if anyone else has had something similar

Update:

Put the stock ECU back on - and it trips 2 blinks consistently.

I have a new MAP sensor ordered - along with the new kill switch. I think its just the sensor not reading the correct amount of airflow, which is providing too much or not enough fuel depending.

The service manual describes how to test each sensor. You need an ohmmeter and some thin paper clips or staples to use as probes.

I don’t have one. Is there a way anyone could post a photo of how to test the MAP sensor?
