My 2018 has run hot since new. Any suggestions from anyone else who has had temp. Issues with this Bike. I know it was addressed on the 19 but I need help with my 18.

Could be running lean. Needs to go on a dyno with an oxygen sniffer up it's butt to determine and then you have to start looking for the reason why. Put in the softer map plug which are generally richer and see if still running hot.

just curious do you guys run a digital thermostat at all? just curious as i run one on my snow-bike and it's a must. i've never run one on a moto/offroad bike but after the snow-bike thing i think i'll put one on every bike i own now and in the future.

We use a radiator fan on our race team CRF250R.

On thumpertalk some guys mentioned running a different radiator cap to help with this issue. Love the new bikes, just gonna hold onto my 17 a bit longer once Honda works the kinks out. Good luck man, you shouldnt have to be dealing with this on a new $8000 bike.

FYI - Moto Hose is making a new cooling hose design for both the 250 & 450 to update the cooling system like the Honda GP team has been using for years for better cooling.

Thank you I think I will try a fan, I’m so tired every time I go to the truck to add coolant. I shouldn’t have to do this with a new bike

Designed and molds are being made. Not sure what the ETA is at this point but should have them in 6-8 weeks.

Check these out too: https://www.ebay.com/itm/LEFT-RIGHT-ALUMINUM-RADIATOR-For-Honda-CRF-250-R-CRF250R-2018/123145364734?epid=13019659583&hash=item1cac0924fe:g:8PcAAOSwUKxYef5i:rk:7:pf:0

I've run them on an RMZ and a CRF after the stock ones got crushed in crashes. Good build quality, higher capacity, stronger than stock and a heck of a lot cheaper. Like $89 a pair for the RMZ, so I bought 2 sets to have spares.

Does boyesen or PC make a waterpump for it? Im sure that would help at least a little.

The hose fitting is steel and pressed into the water pump cover so boyesen has not made them for either the 250 or 450

Full disclosure: owner of 2004, 2006, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2012, 2014, 2015, 2016, 20017 CRF250R's, sometimes two at a time. A '15 is sitting in the garage and a '16 and '17 are loaded up in the vannabis... All of the current bikes get topped of with 1-2oz of coolant between motos.

From what I understand, It's a fundamental flaw on the 2018 model, but much more catastrophic than the 2004-2006 valve eaters. The 2018 owners that I've talked to and parts I've seen the flaw is a lack of lubrication in the cylinder head.

My SPECULATION is that the various ports in the head that direct oil are insufficient, the bike is very sensitive to oil viscosity, or both.

What I struggle with is: how this got past Hondas durability testing. Maybe someone here can speak to that.

I had the problem on mine too, I put a 1.8 bar radiator cap on it and from then everything was alright for me ! You can try, it's a really cheap mod !

Do you let it sit still and idle? or tight slow woods? Or does this happen on a fast moving track or trail?

I don’t ride tight woods or anything but I can’t let it idle or it will boil over

I’m having the same exact problem with my 2018. The exhaust starts to steem after a 5 min moto. Weird

There is a thread on here somewhere where an engine builder described the flaw that you're talking about. Can't find the thread but OP had a CRF250 that blew up 2 times.

So was this issue rectified with the additional/relocation of the oil mister in the head of the '19?

Moto Hose NEW Works Hose kit is in and has been torture tested in 2 GNCC rounds with success.

Have to retake pictures as the Works kit will also include the better designed clamps and gas cap & radiator overflow hoses.

We will also be making the special oversized and braced radiators soon.
