The 125 has a photo just released on Steve Holcomb's Instagram (EnduroGP points leader on Beta 300) and the 200 is expected any day. Should become official tomorrow? New smaller engine 350 and 1st 250 4t expected at EICMA show in November. The Race Editions always run several months later I hope they include a dedicated XC/MX model
These bikes are already state of the art on any surface and it appears the updates and weight loss will only enhance that.

The 4 strokes get the same chassis, suspensions, plastics and clutch updates. New 2 injectors will allow individual mapping for each engine size. 350/390/430/480.

The Shop
KTM pulled the 200, why I don't know, Beta has to meet the same standard. Beta is committed to staying with the carbs as long as they can still pass the standards. FI is likely still down the road, just not yet.
I think Moto fans should rejoice that some companies have not given up on development of existing and new 2-strokes. Having 2 new models available is a good thing.
This is not a small jug on a big bike and bottom end. All new engine, chassis, tank, radiators, airbox etc.

I don't know about the 200 but I hastily did some really quick online comparison shopping of the 300cc enduro variety.
Here's what I came up with:
Sherco 300 SE-R
MSRP ~ $8600
Weight: 231.5 lbs
Seat height: 37.4"
Ground Clearance: 13.78"
Fuel Capacity: 2.75 Gal
GasGas EC300
MSRP ~ $8399
Weight: 231.5 lbs
Seat height: 37.8"
Ground Clearance: N/A
Fuel Capacity: 2.64 Gal
Beta 300 RR
MSRP ~ $8299
Weight: 224.0
Seat Height: 36.6"
Ground Clearance: 12.6"
Fuel Capacity: 2.5 Gal
TM 300 EN
MSRP ~$9195
Seat height: N/A
Ground Clearance: N/A
Fuel Capacity: 2.5 Gal (optional 3.2 Gal)
By comparison to the others, the Beta seems like decent bang for the buck, a relatively lightweight package with lower seat height and ground clearance.
BTW: The KTM/Husq carbureted 300s....
KTM 300xc-w:
$8699
37.8" seat h.
~14.6" ground cl. (no linkage)
2.64 gallons
Husq TE300
$9199
37.8" seat h.
~ 14.6" ground cl. (has linkage)
2.64 gallons
I assume the new TPI models will be heavier and more expensive.
I thought I read somewhere that the Sherco's starter motor was located below the cases for lower CG.
I'm not sure what I'd go with. The TPI sounds great but there is little info out (price, weight, reliability, value, etc). The boutique bikes look great. I especially like the GasGas. But it's heavy and I don't think it's gone through the same amount of R&D as the KTM. Hard to go wrong with a Katoom/Husq.

It's interesting to note that in the E3 EnduroGP last year, The class for 300 2t's (which everyone assumes KTM is the gold standard) Beta took 1st and 2nd, TM 3rd, and KTM 4th. The Overall EnduroGP was won by a Sherco with TM 2nd Husky 3rd. Even though the smaller Euro manufacturer's don't make waves in MX, they are giving Austria fits in the offroad world after years of Austrian dominance.
Pit Row
Yet in the US it appears that most supposed two stroke lovers are spending their time and cubic dollars dredging up, restoring, and attempting to modernize ten year old japanese two strokes that are totally inferior to the new Euro bikes. Thats a real head scratcher
An 8.7lb weight reduction, all new clutch with a steel basket, elimination of the kickstarter while retaining an optional kit, new gear change mechanism, new chassis, new fork slider, new turn signals, new thermostat, new shock settings, new Excel rims, new colors and graphics.

But it's just a dream...
Here's the bike Steve Holcombe is leading the EnduroGP's on, up by 47 points going into the final race.
(click it twice for superzoom)
It's nice to see the smaller brands still developing the 2-stroke enduro bikes, i'm not in that market so it doesn't affect me but i'm sure lots of enduro/offroad people appreciate it!
"Beta markets the bike as an off-road machine, but it’s competitive with 125 MX bikes..... In aggressive power mode, it runs a little stronger than a YZ125."

It doesn't seem bad, unless you compare it to the 250 RR's that go for the same price with e-start and oil injection.
All new engine and downsized frame cost some R&D and who know about exchange rates?
Obviously by my sig you can see I went a completely direction due to familiarity. But there would 100% be orange in my garage if they still made one.
