I put a bit of time on a 2016 125sx recently and was amazed at how good it was, I'm going to jump on the 2 stroke bandwagon and chop in my current bike for a small bore 2 stroke.

I'm just unsure about the on track difference between the 150 and the 125, does the 150 feel like a 125 on steroids or does have it have an entirely different feel?

I've read that some people prefer the 125 over the 150 as it feels more 'organic' (whatever the hell that means) even though it has less horespower.

Cheers.

Wait for the 2019's. They will be fuel injected
I've been out of the loop for a while, when are the new model years released usually? I do know KTM like to bring them out early though.

I've ridden numerous 125's and 150's. Even back to back a couple times so really could compare the 2. I had a 16 125 that was great as well. I feel the 125 carries momentum better from gear to gear corner to corner. Just hold it wfo and hold on. The 150 sacrifices the 125's shrieking top end for more bottom and very good midrange hit however I don't think it's a good trade off. Meaning the 150 signs off pretty fast. All depends on what kind of rider you are. If you want the classic feeling of going flat out get the 125. If your heavier then 160 lbs or want to race 250'fs the added low and mid range does help in racing on the 150 but if your looking for pure fun get the 125.

I am also interested in an '18 Husq / Ktm 150-125.

I have read a lot of info regarding the '17s and how the power on the 125's is a bit smoother and carries longer as opposed to the 150 being more of a light switch and falls off.

I am unable to find much real world experience on the 18' models however as manufacture info would seem to point this has changed a bit but haven't been able to confirm from someone who has tested both in these years.

In my opinion the Husky 125 is the bike to get because I believe the motor puts out power similar to the KTM 150 but they can be hard to get and, at least in my area when I was looking, all of the dealers sell them at full MSRP where as you can generally find a deal on the KTM 125 and 150.

I have a 2016 KTM 150 and the motor pulls noticeably better than my 2002 KX125 down low and in the mid but I've never ridden the new KTM 125 or Husky so I can't tell you how it compares against those.

The test riders on the YouTube videos said they liked the 125 better and it was a better race bike power curve wise

A small bore without top is no good. Wring its neck or its worthless. Had a 125, was awesome, bored it to 144, it then sucked! With a 'stroke', the bigger bore would be great again.

It's kinda ironic that people say Japanese 144 conversions have no top end, yet the tc125 is a top end screamer... our rm144 has much better over rev, the tc125 is an amazing bike, but once the power is done, it needs another gear otherwise it slows down. It stays on the pipe good, but it spins through the gears quick

Poor YZ 125 (my current bike) so underpowered...
This proves that the 150 has the exact same curve than the 125 just a few hp more everywhere. The perfect 2 stroke imo.

Stock KTM 150's were putting out 42HP on his dyno in 2016.

46whp out of a bike thats 192lbs dry. Don't see why this couldn't easily hang with a pack of built 250Fs assuming the right rider was in the saddle. Bet it also costs a hell of a lot less to get that result compared to getting 46whp out of any 250F thats not a 17+ KTM/Husky (I'm pretty sure a pipe, fuel, and mapping will get that result for them).

For you, coming off of a 4t yes the 150 is going to have an entirely different feel compared to a 125. If you were coming up from a 125 the 150 would feel like a built 125.

I have a 13 150 and personally I prefer that motor over the new. The one is a bore only. The old motor is bre and stroke so it does not lose and top end. Yes the new one had a little more hp but the old motor feels more versatile. Either way they are both badass bikes.

What is your height and weight? Go to a demo and compare back to back. I did and it was 150
hands down for me. Get stuck in too high a gear one fan of clutch on 150, 3 on 125! If you are an average sized human being I would say 150 all the way. The 150 is a 144cc machine, isn’t that what most of the big bores are? Wish the AMA would make 144cc the limit or slightly higher to allow for a re-bore.
