im getting good deals on thees bikes now and wonder which off thees two bike would you choose if you would buy it new now. and why would you buy it. i want something that reliable and just works, on the suzuki i probably wold have to do something to the forks so that would cost me a little more.

pretty much the same, not more than a couple hundred bucks difference. if a watch lorettas this year the yamaha 450 seems to be heavily favored but every one here says they sucks and are big pig tanks.

I be ridden both. Yzf better power, Rmz better package Imo. Yzf is wider but still a great bike. Can't go wrong either one.

I'd get Rmz, get suspension set up, remap ecu or vortex ecu good fuel. . Full Fmf rct, or yosh, gear it 13-51 whole new bike.

What price, imo the 18 yzf is worth the extra $$, and resale. The 17 models are already 1.5 years old.

Tough decision man, 3 great bikes.to choose from . Maybe find a local track, throw some $$ at a few guys to ride theirs.

I owned a 2015 YZF 450 (pretty much the same as a '17) and was able to get over 100 hrs out of the stock motor. For maintenance, I changed the oil and oil filter every 3-5 hrs. I also changed the air filter every 2-5 hrs and tried to change it whenever it got dirty. I've had really good reliability with Yamaha, can't speak to the Suzuki.

What type and skill of riding? I think yami more for aggressive. Although, at your size, handling is fine with either. A few bucks for yz, or a bit more put into RM, close to equal.

Would the Moto Tassinari air intake make much of a difference on my RMZ450 without a remap?
You have a sharp looking bike, btw.

Thanks,. Hard to say honestly. I did the air boot, remap, 2 stroke cage and pipe all at once. Big big difference. Using renegade sx4 fuel also.

I’m about the same size. I have a 14 yz. My buddy has a 17 and my dad has a 17 rmz. I love the Yamaha’s. Suzuki turns great, but you lose stability with that. I also feel cramped on the Suzuki. Yamaha has better resale. Both bikes are great though. Either way you can’t go wrong.

Dude, just get the '17 YZF. It sounds like you already want it. Everyone has given you suggestions and you keep going back to that one. I would go with the RMZ myself, but it sounds like you already have your mind made up on the YZF.

^^This^^ Both are great bikes and both are very reliable. My next bike will likely be a 2018 YZ (recently rode one and liked it a lot) - I've had multiple YZ's in the past and I'm a huge Yamaha fan. Right now I have a 2013 RMZ and it's been an excellent bike. Getting suspension done is a must have, but it's absolutely plush when you get it right. Bike turns on a dime, and this fact should not be devalued. Also a remap on the RMZ is very important which isn't expensive. I have 150 hours on my 2013 RMZ and the valves are perfectly in spec, have never moved at all. YZ's are great for reliability too. YZ will have more power stock, but you can set up a Zook to get tons of power and it will always turn great. I think the RMZs are very under appreciated, they're great bikes. Really can't go wrong with either though. Pick a color.

Resale is worse if comparing to KTM and Husky, but Yami's and Zooks are also cheaper to buy new compared to KTM and Husky - by a significant margin. The amount of money lost on resale is about a wash.

I let me 2016 yz450 go for 3800 this summer

Ive let 08,09,13 rmz for for 2k (08,09) in 2011.
the 2013 I couldn't give away in 2016

yz forks are better, power is better.
rmz does turn better, easier to ride.

the 2018 rmz is already 6700 at dealers so that scares me for private party

The yamaha is going to be much easier to get ride of than the RMZ when its time to sell. Just my 2 cents i just bought a 2017 yz450, bike before that was a 2015 yz450. Love them.

I can’t hardly give my super clean 15 yz away been trying to sell it for 6-7 weeks or so and only had two insanely low ball offers, it’s bad time of year here to sell but my asking price is fair and comes with extras but nothing.

As far as riding them goes, yz way better suspension stock and awesome motor, rmz feels better and skinnier and turns on a dime even if your set up sucks, they are both good units with shitty resale value lol

Its all in how the bike is presented, sold my 15 for 5k in September and it was only for sale for a day and a half. If they dont look stock they dont sell simple as that.

Dang man, bikes go CHEAP in your neck of the woods. That's crazy. A well maintained 2 year old RMZ will go for $4K here. A well maintained 2 year old YZ will go for $5K around here. Agreed on your other points. I too saw an RMZ for $6800 OTD which is a great deal for a super nice bike. I currently have a 2013 RMZ with 150 hrs and I bet I could get $3500 for it, maybe more. Mine's modded to the 9's and in great shape. Worst case scenario I know I could part it out and get at least $3K-$3200, but that's a total PITA.
