'16 RMZ 250 was ALL new...except for the plastics (big friggin deal...it's just plastics morans). New frame, engine, suspension, launch control, brakes etc. It's an awesome bike, and I'm not surprised they're just doing some refinements to it.

Lol!
I don't think it's a question of the number of changes that they made to the rmz 250 in 2016. It's more of what did they really gain from all the changes. Most test riders felt the switch to kyb suspension was an improvement. Bikes always cornered great. However, bike still feels very rigid. Also, the internal engine changes didn't really account to much improvement in the motor. Bike now makes the least amount of power in the class if I'm correct....

The bike was the only 250f to come in under the db limit. There's a video out with a Yosh tech talking about how this new engine is very open to power up mods compared to the previous design.

"We learned that an all new chassis, engine, and bodywork will grace the 2018 bike, and we may have even caught a glimpse of a photo…very trick!"

now THAT is interesting.

I'm guessing it measures how much the suspension is traveling.

It didn't have enough power to be over the db limit....

people keep going on like they NEED to change the chassis and the engine. I've ridden a handful and aside from a little better engine(fixed with porting) the chassis is the best out of the box. It doesnt need different clamps to turn, a different linkage to drop the rear. and the plastic still looks good 8 years later.

i think the problem is everyone is used to honda on their 4 year plan which ultimately F**ks things up. Anyone remember the 08-09 change? it was such a debacle that privateers were not using the 09 bikes

NEW doesnt = better,

BUT they could stand to put in a more durable clutch, lose some weight, add a little better power, go back to spring forks

@Malachi177 ...Did you just call people "Morans"?? You are clearly the idiot here, seeing as that's not a word. Oh the irony.

Looks more like a strain gauge for load data - not displacement data.

Loving my 2011 RMZ450 .....

* Lowering link.
* 5mm more trail triple-clamp mod.
* Barnett clutch springs.
* 1.6 radiator cap.
* Both restrictors removed from the stock muffler.
* CRF steering damper.
* KYB piston head in rear Showa shock.
* 51 tooth rear sprocket.
* 270 front disc with oem pads.
* Runs 15w/50 semi synth oil.

Done over 100 hours, haven't even needed to change a shim yet. I'm happy to wait for 2018 :-)

What exactly from an engineering stand point do you want to see changed? Why is it that people come on here to try and bash the mighty Zook? It remains the best cornering bike out of the box for many years running. It doesn't need more power to represent a big cock as most of us cannot ride the amount of power this bike makes anyways, and in the refinement department it looks fresh. Please explain?

I don't think the bike is garbage. It's just bad when need to buy a pipe cams and hi compression piston to match a stock yz 250f

I think with the 125 and 250f you can use all power you can get.

With 450f and 250 2 stroke I think the general public can't make use of all the power that's available.

I am a suzuki guy here too btw... lol

I found a really great deal on a used 2017 rmz 250. 2 hours on bike, still has factory stickers, very mint bike.

4200.

A Is there any issues known with Suzuki’s? Reliability? Not looking for biased Suzuki fans either lol.
Only upside to this deal is brand new bike with no payments. I planned on buying an 18/19 from the dealership later this year. wasnt planning on buying a Suzuki if I were to finance but I do plan on putting 4K down when I pick one up..
Are these bikes pretty reliable? Also if I remember correctly rmz are smaller sized bikes?

Always found them a bit smaller framed I found whenever I rode them.
I had a 2012 which was bulletproof, fantastic bike.

Not firsthand experience, but my friend has a 2016 with over 100 hours on it, piston at 50 hours and its been faultless, not sure if there were major changes which may affect them?

Nice. From the small amount of research I’ve done there were 0 engine changes from 16 to 17
