Don’t think that is an adjustable number that affects anything other than keeping your cam cap in place. If you mean there is skuffing on your cams where they ride on the carrier I would suspect they are not getting oil and chase that down.

Use oem torque specs unless you want to mess up your cam journals. Also make sure you are torquing in the correct order. The caps have numbers to make it easy.

ok thanks. i use factory specs from my manual and plenty of assembly lube also following the numbers on cam caps for tightening sequence after i done the top end at 40 hours at 80 hours now theses scuff marks are new. pretty sure there is no oil problems the filter screen spotless i splitting cases today and will check oil strainers ill post photo. bike has been running mint is just pulled down for routine rebuild.

What did your manual say, it's usually only around 8 or 12 foot pounds if they're not torqued right it would definitely screw your bridge up.

usually thats an oil problem. Either not getting enough or not using good oil or changing often enough. You said you do belray & change every 5 hrs. Id suggest going with maxima and chang every 2 hours. Thats my regimen on my kx’s and have never had an issue. Also i can say my oil is shot after about 2/3 hours. No way would i be going 5. Also just a side note, i dont think that cam bearing is supposed to spin with the outer race. Both of my bikes clamp down pretty good.

split cases today no oil pasages are blocked and strainer just had few bits of sealnt in it. looks like u say the bearing has slipped inside the cam caps dont no why i torqued to 10nm in the order numberd on the cam cap. my oil still comes out pretty clean at 5 hours but im no expert on that. we dnt have options like rotella in nz were it cheap as and can put in every 2 hours

Did you have the two cam bearing retaining Clips in right, if they're not in the groove and you torque the bridge down there wouldn't be any pressure on the bearings

i think so i used asemmpbely lube to stick the cam keeper clips in place so they wouldnt move as i installed cam cap. the amsoil assembly lube i using is sticky as. The scuff marks shouldnt have any impact on the bike once rebuilt? or does it affect oiling?

That looks pretty normal to be honest with you. I've seen this on just about every single kx I've been in, including my '11. I nor anyone else's KX have not had any issues. If those were gouged out I'd be concerned, but that is just normal wear. I've always torqued the cap bolts to 7ft lbs and then a smidge more, maybe 1/8 of a turn but no more. Kind of a feel thing for me.

Looks like normal wear unless the picture isn't representing well.
Are those just scuffs, or can you catch your fingernail on any of them?

That is where the cam bearing sits. I'm pretty sure that part is not even spinning. Its just a mark from being clamped in place.

Its called "bearing creep", it ensures bearing races wear evenly. Its completely normal.
I know the manual says 15 hours for oil changes, but I think even 5 hours is too long. I do mine after every race day or 2 rides. Its cheap maintenance.
