Here’s a picture of the piston ??
In before all the jugheads who say that looks like it has over a hundred hours on it.

Pretty cool that several here properly diagnosed your problem from a single post. Two thumbs up!

Lol. I was surprised by the picture when I got it because I know how many hours are on it. But then again, we live in California and our gas is horrible.

Ya know, I always wonder about this and what's the "worst" batch I've ever gotten as far as pump fuel goes. I always mix pump fuel with VP c12 in my 2-strokes for the purpose of engine health (not power).

In our 2 strokes we run straight c12 or vp110, but usually c12. We only mix when we absolutely have to. Not the most cost efficient way to do it, but damn if those 250's don't run amazing on straight c12 lol

Seems like there might be a piston design problem. I know what you mean by OEM pistons are good and used to always go that route but since running Vertex for over 15 years and seeing how they wear and last, I'm all for Vertex or Wossner. I'd be putting a standard replacement (i.e standard compression ratio) from one of those companies without question, especially given the multiple examples of failure shown and listed here.

Did the oil smell like gas at all? I would think some got blown into the crank.
