Okay so I'm looking into trading in my '17 rmz450 for a crf450r. The dealership near me has a 17 and 18 brand new still and I can get a '19 there at a call. But my question is are there really that much differences between the years? I've read on them and they've tweaked things here and there but I dont wanna be throwing money to the wind if the 17 or 18 are the same bike.
-electric start standard
-Tweaked ecu mapping
-updated suspension settings
The 19 bigger differences
-revised frame & swingarm
-different engine cases (no kick start option)
-different fuel inject for intake more like a ktm
You’ll get a smoking deal on the 18, so the deal would have to be really smoking to make it worth buying the 17, but who knows how desperate the dealer is to get rid of a 2 year old dirt bike.
As for the electric start, it isn’t an issue for me, anyway, because I run a Rekluse Radius CX, so mid-moto stalls aren’t a consideration.
