I currently have around 40 hours on my yz250f and have been reading about a lot of people having issues with bottom end components failing at low hours on this 2016 as well as the 2014 and 2015 models. Just wondering if this is something I should be concerned about and if anybody has any clarification on the matter that would be cool as well. Also noticed specifically for the 2016 model, you cant find hardly any bottom end kits other than obviously OEM parts online for the 2016 yz50f, but there is a bunch for all previous and newer models.
If I'm right the crank in that 16 is a very good unit.
- crank should be fine.
The Shop
I had a 2015 with 80 h and did nothing to the engine other than changing oil. No problems.
I wouldn‘t worry about the reliability of a 16 as long as you keep changing oil and air filters.
We literally didn't do a top end or anything to them until around 90 hours on them.
I wish we would have stayed with Kawasaki but we switched to an 18' Honda 250f when they redid the bike and it was a complete disaster. Many manufacturing flaws, I ran literally 2 gallons of fuel through it and the engine locked up.
That was a fiasco with Honda pretending they didn't know anything about it. Still have a brand new honda just sitting there. Doesn't run. Just sits there
Have two Yamahas now and they are good.
Depends how you ride and maintain it.
As said above the 14 & 15 had the bottom end problems...
If you do a bottom end do yourself a favor and go OEM or have the crank sent off. Don't go aftermarket...
