2016 ktm bar mounts twist easily

Edited Date/Time 1/18/2016 8:09pm
Does anyone else have this problem. Is it the ruber mounts doing this. Or maybe the one peice lower mount. But i never had this problem with any of my other ktms. Any advice.

My old Kawi's were like that. A one piece top clamp solved the issue

Can't stand rubber mounts because of this. I bought some Zeta racing solid inserts for my '15 KX450F.

I've got the rubber mounts (phds, I think ktm call it) on my sx 250 and have the same problem, I find it straightens itself out pretty quick though.

They do, but you can fix them back to perfect easily. I want the ride pg clamps, but am waiting to really smoke these before spending 75 bucks. Anyhow. Take off the one piece aluminum. Place on it on something flat and you will be able to see which way to twist them in order to get both Mounts to lay perfectly flat. Careful twisting them, they twist almost by hand. It took me a while to figure it out, but have done it to my 2x. Fixedy buddies 350 the same way as well.

It's tricky because you can tighten the 17mm underneath the triple clamp thinking you are tightening the mount but your actually just spinning the bolt. so in order to get them tight u need to take off the bars and hold against yourself with the torx head inside.

I had the same problem until i got some good pressure on them then they were really good.

I twisted my whole bar mount though when i had a big one, so im in the market for some alternative clamps. $150AUD to replace the stock ones was a big ask

Keep the rubber cone washers and buy an MXBonz X6 bar mount. They'll never move again and you won't be contributing to China's economy.

Ride Engineering top clamp.

Cheaper than clamps. Bolt on fix.

You're welcome.

I took them apart today and the torques heads that go through the bar mount and top of the tripples into that 17 were pretty loose. One side looser then the other. I tightened them so hopefully it does the trick. If not i might buy the ride engeneering bar mounts with the solid top clamp.

Rubber mounts "my mounts keep bending I need solid mounts!"
Solid mounts "my bike vibrates so bad. Why didn't they put rubber mounts on here"

There's a down side no matter what you do.
On my KX250F the rubber mounts quit bending when I installed the Scott damper. 1 piece top clamp. Might work for you as well

Nihilo has aluminum inserts to replace the rubber ones. They are in stock.

+1. Have it on my bike now. Not too expensive and your bars will never move.

When you crash and twist the bars...do you change the rubber cones for new ones...or do you turn around the existing ones?

in the past i have been able to get them centered again by taking the torx bolt out of the top. This past weekend I wrecked and bent the mounts, tried to get the rubber to re center between motos but couldn't get it quite back to where it should be. Any tips on this from anyone? Should I tap out the 17mm nut on the bottom and the part where the torx bolt threads in?

Side note, the top 1 piece mount is bent to all hell so I'll be looking to replace that too.

Just smack the tire against a tree and keep riding.

You'll obviously need to replace the bent parts, but everything else should be good. Just take it all apart and put it back together again. Also, check out this thread for some options:

Jody will tell you.....you need single piece bottom clamps and single piece top clamps....bottom clamp from one model year and the top from another model year. Google "bent bar clamps MXA" and you will find your answer.
