Just moved to the Charleston, WV area and looking to get a new 250sx. Wanted to get a general idea of what the OTD prices others are paying so I know what to negotiate. Also, if anyone has any particular dealerships they would reccomend in the area, that would really help.

Also, I'm New to the site so if this thread is out there I appologize. I searched and came up with nothing.

Thanks!

I have thought about getting a 14 since there is not much difference from what I have read. I have thought about waiting for the 16s but I imagine they won't be avalible till late summer.

I almost purchased a '14, but am so glad I waited and got a '15 just on looks alone.

Give Lance at Ride On Moto in WInchester VA a call. They are a new KTM dealer that just opened a few weeks ago, but both the owner and Lance used to run a large Honda shop in the same area a few years ago. The phone number to the shop is 540-722-7100.

The '16 will be seeing some changes, frame and stuff, right? Not like the '15 is lacking anything though.

Ebs, the 16 250sx will have the new frame and bodystyle, the motor will be identical

Are you sure about that? In every pic I've seen the motor looks different and MXA has hinted at 'big changes'.

fearo, the 125 is the bike in all the pics, and yes that might be D.I

Many times you do get taxed later on when buying out of state. PA taxes you, i am not quite sure how they find out (computers) but they call it a use tax. I bought bikes all over, but the last 2 i got a use tax bill about 6 months later and its the same rate as state sales tax. They even caught it when i bought one in Canada. Many states are tied into this system nowadays.

If you buy out of state you get a COA (certificate of origin) no title, which means you cannot trade it in to a dealer later. It you want to get a title, then you have to pay taxes in your state before they will give you one.

Bingo.

People need to be very aware of this.

Our state even tacks on hefty penalties if you don't pay the tax when you're supposed to. They actually had a task force audit the dealers on bordering states and went back 6+ years. People got letters stating they owed use tax plus many hundreds of dollars in penalties. Didn't matter if you still owned the unit or not; if you were the original buyer at the dealership you were on the hook.

They aren't leaving any trees unshaken in their quest for every dollar in your pocket.

Buyer beware.

Thanks for the info. I have been kicking around the idea of buying out of state to avoid titling since WV charges personal property tax yearly. Not so sure I'm wanting to do that now. May be best to bite the couple hundred now rather than worry about it.

Are you racing this year? Jt Motorsports has a program where you get paid to race.

Five Star Cycle in Seagertown Pa has 14' 250SX-F for $61XX OTD.

I don't miss the sales tax bullshit of PA.Oregon is tax free on cars, motorcycles etc.... How can they know if you pay cash and just use an MSO?
3/20/2015 11:43am
ive bought about 60 new bikes , never paid tax on any of them, and most people I know do the same, ive never even heard of anyone having a problem. I buy bikes yearly, in nj u don't need to register your bike, maybe that's why

Oh yeah. That $6100 was WITH pa sales tax. So out of state buyers should be around $5700

Maybe closer to $5500 because you won't have to pay for registration and maybe not for a title.
