I just purchased a 2014 yz250 front wheel thinking it would fit onto my 2014 yz250f front but the axle doesn't fit into the wheel bearings so can I just buy wheel bearings for the yz250f and put them in the the yz wheel or does the hub in general just need to be replaced?

The opposite can be made to work with spacers but in your case you will need a front hub

is there any way you can just change bearings or will it not work at all

There is no bearing size available that allows your new wheel to match your bike.

Been there, tried it. Nothing. Picked up a used RM/RMZ wheel and machined a spacer.

I learned this the hard way too but then later heard that someone on TT had found the correct bearings.

The YZF front wheel bearings are shit. No seals, and an oddball size. Utter shit.

You can make YZ250 front wheel to fit the YZ250F/450F 14+ bikes, but that would require boring the hub to bigger size. Then the bearings and the rest would fit. I have done this over 10 times and it works perfectly.

is this something id have to take it to a shop to have done or something easy and can just be done at home, also another thing i was thinking of doing is just switching the hubs from my current wheel to the new one.

Just ask someone with machining skills and tools to do that for you. It is a easy task for such person, but not so easy for someone that has never done such thing.

Let me know if you’re willing to part with it. FYI on switching the hub, some of the new hubs use different spokes too
