Well the UPS guy just showed, so I guess it wasn't a dream. I could have this thing all together tomorrow, but now I feel the need to paint the frame too so..........give me a week or two. Hopefully yours will be ready by then and we can put them both up.

My cousin raced the 450A class at the regional AMA race at Cycle Ranch last Sunday.

He holeshot on his '13 250SX and led 2 laps before crashing and eventually finishing 6th out of 13 riders. Not bad for a kid that works a full time job and is a smoker to boot.

His expansion chamber cracked in his next moto leaving him w/ no hp.

Myself, I'm trying to decide between a '13 250SX or a '13 CRF450 at this time sicne I've been on a 250SX for 5 years now.
Here is a helmet cam of that race. Probably the sickest holeshot ever just because he was on a 250 two stroke and it was a concrete gate wich better suites four strokes.

Got all the jetting issues figured out & the suspension working awesome now & I can NOW truly say that this bike is the best 2 stroke that Ive ever ridden. I raced it 2 wks in a row & done great on it & had so much racing it. This pic is from Sunday at Central Village jumping the 120' triple. It was cool as shit doing it too.

Whistling well anyone who knows me knows I've always had a thing for the 200SX and I always keep one around. But, this part to me was like the proverbial needle in a haystack. Rare at the time, out of production for a long time and until now impossible to find. As of now the UPS guy hasn't delivered yet so maybe it was all a dream.......

OK, it's going to take me a little bit to get this project done. So, the mysterious delivery was a like brand new Doma pipe and silencer specifically for the 200SX. It was supposed to be the poop back in the day, and I've been looking for one for years. To find a perfect example was a crazy stroke of luck. I'm now waiting for the parts, gaskets etc. to go through the 200 motor (it's like new too, but it will be peace of mind to have a peek). Once that happens, I'll have to take the 150 motor out, paint the frame and put it all together. But, until then, I'm riding it as a 150 and even at 200lbs it pulls me around very, very well. And, remembering how to tap dance on the shifter came back really quickly.

Digger, I'm stoked to hear you're loving that Katoom. But, a guy your age shouldn't be hucking 120' triples......ahahaha. You know, the last time I owned a 125 we were on the line together. That was a little while ago.....

Husky guys are cutting up and using 200SX pipes on their CR125s, it compliments the 165 top end very well. Woods guys like the FMF Fatty the best, heard great things about the Doma apparently the HGS is the mid-top powerhouse pipe, at least on these bikes. Mine will be here soon, I do MX only so I went with the HGS, can't wait to ride it and see how it does on the dyno compared to the 125 and 144.

That's very interesting, I have a friend with a Husky and I"ll pass that info along. Though the fact that there are even more people searching for an already rare pipe isn't great news for me lol

That's got to sting a little for a guy in your position.

Beautiful bike. Would really like to know what direction you went in regards to the jetting. I have tried the Suzuki needle, but still it is not quite right. Please enlighten me with your wisdom. :-)

Thanks :-) I tried the 40 pilot & the 160 main jet & the NECJ Suzuki needle as many have said they are using but it just doesn't work here in New England. I have the stock 42 pilot, an NOZE needle on the 3rd setting, 175 main jet (YES I said 175) I'm mixing a 50/50 Sunoco Supreme leaded 112 octane race fuel with Sunoco ultra with Maxama 927 & running it at 40:1 & not the ridiculous 60:1 as the factory recommends & the bike is running unbelievable, It starts one kick & carberates ( is that a word?) super clean & revs so fast & so high & pulls so long & much further on top that it feels like it's never going to stop making power & pulling up there. This is the way that the bike should've came.

Rode it again last night with it re-jetted again & powervalve spring change. We installed the .48 for springs & lowered the fork oil & set the sag at 105mm. It ran awesome & totally different than on Sunday & Monday when I rode it. The motor now pulls right from what seems just off an idle & it still rips into the midrange but it's way more manageable. This bike is fast! The forks feel much much better & way more fluid in the middle of the stroke where they were beating the shit out of me on Sunday & Monday. We also installed black Excel A60 rims. I think she's looking pretty good & I'm racing it tomorrow for the 1st time.

Hey mate, what was your final jetting setup, i am at sea level in OZ, head 20 thou shaved and porting, so much bottom to mid but signes off just a little too early (mainly my main jet and air) but like to know what you ended up with and what altitude u are running at. Went up 2 x teeth on rear so i have a few anomolies and riding sx/mx. I have done suspension bladder kit in shock that was the best biggest difference....Any other mods you can recomend??

We are at sea level here too. Stock pilot, the 08 Suzuki RM250 needle NECJ on the 3rd clip setting & a 172-175 main jet depending on the temps. I stripped my bike down yesterday & I'm getting the frame powder coated neon orange. I'm going with all white plastic & my graphics will be the same but just all white & the Fox heads that are ghosted into the orange graphics will now chrome Fox heads. Bought new wheels too. They are SM Pros are they look bad ass too :-)

I also went to a 50 rear sprocket after riding the bike once & liked it but after my motor mods that we've recently done & the increase in power everywhere I'm now going back to the stock 48 rear on the new wheels.

Last night at my local track the fastest kid was on a 250 sx. He beat all the 450's. A 125 beat the 250's in one race too. Things are changing out there.......slowly the clock is coming full circle.

Tuesday in the rain jumping the big spectator jump at my track Central Village CT. They say it's 120' & while I definitely agree it's long I'd say it's more like 105-110ish. Fun as hell none the less :-)

I got them from SM Pro in the UK & they custom built them for me just the way I wanted them for $926 & shipped them for $80. Check out their site & the reviews on their wheels.

The '13 250SX is a very good motorcycle but the entire line up of KTMs have just atrocious suspension imo. They really have the valving of a limp noodle. But you know, even w/ the '13 swapping and out of control all of the way around the track, I was faster after 3 laps on it than my well dialed in '08 250SX.

So I just went and slapped Ohlins on mine and boy, what a difference.

I also have some wheels, pegs, APT carb, etc and a few other parts on the way but family life has kept me from riding for weeks now. Sad

I definitely agree with you about how great the bike is & how bad the suspension is but I wouldn't go as far as to say that is atrocious though. It is definitely set up poorly & it's way over dampened in the front & way under dampened in the rear which makes it hard to set up. We made a number of changes to mine & while it's not perfect it does work way better than it did stock. That being said I'm VERY VERY curious about your Ohlins set up & have considered buying it for xmas for me :-) Tell me more about it. Where did you get it & how much did it cost you & give me your honest opinion of it on the track. Thanks so much, Digger

You are better at setting suspension up than I am. All I knew was stock my '13 was at times dangerous, although the linkage absolutely came out of turns better than my '08 PDS. My '13 stock headshaked, hopped, went sideways.

I bought the Ohlins basically because what MX Tech wanted for their full fancy revalve (about $2.4K with shipping both ways) plus what I can sell my OEM suspension for (about $1.2K) was more than I paid for brand new Ohlins delivered to my house.

The good:
-amazing customer service and pricing from Dave @ Sport Bike Industries
-incredibly plush suspension, acceleration and braking chop just disappear
-just bolt it on and it was so close. I added one click of rebound to the shock and it was so good.
-the one day I rode on the Ohlins, I had no problem staying w/ a friend that usually smokes me. He had just finished 2nd in a Vet Pro race the week before which is faster than I can run.
-if you think rims make your bike look good, the trickness that Ohlins exudes is palatable

The bad:
-I WAY overjumped an obstacle and the bottoming resistance wasn't what I personally needed. It hurt!
-there was a recall on the forks because they had some fork lugs cracking. So I sent both ends back and they stiffened the valving up slightly and are installing the replacement lugs. The shock is already on it's way back, but the forks I'm not going to see until around the first of the year which just sucks.

Ohlins TTX is tits for guys like us who suck at setting up suspension. Bolt on and grin, it's magical out of the box. I didn't want to turn a clicker it was so good immediately. I had the same experience as you, super plush but it did need slightly better bottoming resistance for flat landing.
