Hi, thinking of buying a ktm xc 150, I have a 03 yz125 at the moment but it’s hard to ride in woods. I have my eye on one that’s good value, it’s a 2012. Heard that certain years of the xc’s are not the best... anyone here have an xc150, and are they a good bike for woods/ enduro, do they have much low end power?? and must I buy a lighting loom or is it there for front and rear light? (I know the stator is there)Thanks. EDIT: meant a 2011, any problems with this year?

I had one, it was a great bike. Sold it and got a 250f. Worst mistake I ever made, at least when it comes to bikes.

go for it, it should have the tc wp forks on it and thoose are easily the best wp forks made after you revalve them.

2015 and prior are total purpose-built 150 engines. The engines built after 2016 are a 125 bottom end with a 144 cylinder and piston.

A 12 or 13 are the model years to have IMHO.

11 and back is the linkageless shock, 14 through 16 are the 4cs forks. 16 and up are just big bores, and many people dont like the way it runs compared to the 125.

I have a 12. Never letting that thing go!! It pulls nicely even at bottom. Use for mx and some endiro racing too (here in Switzerland). A ton of fun, but still makes you ride correctly.

had no idea.. thankyou for the hints on which one to buy.. I've had a few 144's and a 150.. all PDS though.. Maybe i'll try one next

People saying the new 150 doesn't run good are crazy. I saw a dyno of a 2019 sx150, its putting out over 40hp. More than all the Japanese 250f on the same dyno. Yz125 is making 31hp on that dyno.

I raced a 2012 150xc with a 200 crank and cylinder in the open A class off road up until a year ago. The bike ripped. I got several holeshots on it and I was on the smallest bike in the class. The thing was amazing in the woods. I have the suspension from that bike on my '16 250xc now.

I never rode it as a 150 though so I guess I'm not much help.

i have a 2018, its not a 2012, its doesnt have a linkage either, but it's the bike i have the most fun of. Went from a 250F to the 150 and would not go back.

the 2018 come's with the lightkit already on. Not sure about the 2012 , but it doesnt look that difficult to do!

I had a '13 model and absolutely loved the bike. It was extremely fast, rode it in the vet B class racing woods races. Never had a power issue and I'm 200#, of course it's a 150/125 and you have to ride it as such but the bike is light and has a decent amount of torque for a small bore. Ride the piss out of it.
