Thinking of selling my semi-built 2012 rmz450. What can be expected for a sales price. I know this has been debated by several on here before and wanted thoughts. I'm hoping to get $3500. And for all the stand up comics out there...I know, "tree fiddy" is what it will sell for. A few details about the bike.
-Race engine built for the MEC has decked head, ported and polished intake, high compression JE piston, titanium valves with copper valve seats.
-Balanced and polished crankshaft with carillo rod from Mike Alessi's race bike.
-Treated and polished transmission from Davi Millsaps 2013 race bike.
-Race spec FMF titanium exhaust from Davi Millsaps 2013 race bike.
-Full Hinson Clutch
-Magura Hydraulic Clutch - very easy and consistent feel.
-Braking oversize 280mm front rotor.
-Steel braided front brake line.
-Carbon fiber front rotor guard.
-Mototassinari air-boot for extra air flow and power.
-Oversize radiators
-Radiator Braces
-Boyesen supercooler high flow water pump
-CV4 silicone radiator hoses
-Oversize fuel tank. (stock tank comes with the bike)
-Tusk Impact wheels.
-Twin air powerflow air cage

You might as well keep it, especially considering all the stuff you have on it. I think I remember Keefer specifically mentioning that year of RMZ as a great bike in his "What Used Bike to Buy" type podcast he did a while back. Looks like a nice bike.
Just went through the same thing with my Rmz. I had about 3 times the money just in mods for what I sold it for. But the wife and I are in the process of adoption and that ain’t cheap.
The Shop
It’s already been said, but RMZ bikes and parts are hard to sell. Makes no sense, they are GREAT bikes, but I think people read too many shootouts and the Suzuki has been last for years... good luck with the sale, it’s worth $3500 all day long to the right buyer.
It just hurts that it is a 7 year old bike and a Suzuki.
It looks like a great value at $3500, but may sell for $2500 to $3000.
I sold a 2011 YZ450F for $2,500 in Phoenix. It had a C4MX rebuild (high compression pistion/port and polish/new clutch) and Enzo suspension and such. There was a feeding frenzy at that price, and the first guy who showed up took it away. I shed a tear, but had to make my mortgage payment, so off she went.
That bike had so much grunt that I could upshift to 4th, go to the inside of a corner, then go through the whoops at ACP and rip up the next straightaway.
I'm currently listing a 2016 YZ250 for $4,000. No takers yet, but it is winter here.
This is great for people on a tight budget who want a new 450, but bad for resale on used ones.
I've sworn off four-strokes, but would be tempted to get a new RMZ450 at such a price point, especially if I want to try to go back to Loretta's in +40 in the future. I think they have a nice feel and could be a good "old man's" bike.
Why envy us?
In hindsight, it would of been cheaper to keep my RMZ. It's a buyers market

It appears the same is true for used RMZs.
Pit Row
I know that I will never see any return on my bike and don’t have the time to ride like I used to anymore to justify a loss and spending new bike money again. I like the bike a lot and will keep it until i feel it’s worth the $2500 it will fetch and probably find and buy another low hour unit because they will still be dirt cheap.
The leftover 17’s were fetching $5500 out the door at dealers and 18’s right around $6200 and when you take into consideration the god awful forks from 13-17 people just don’t want anything to do with them.
I used to buy up 06-09 Honda 250fs with the notorious valve and crank issues and would sell every single one for $2500+ bone stock with new engine internals. They still fetch around that in my area now, which blows my mind but just goes to show how the shootouts and dealer prices have affected the RMZ line.
Ghost
I’m 15 minutes from the CA/US border and guys from CA used to pay top dollar for a bike from the states and still get them cheaper than they could up there, if you drove the bike across that is. That dried up when the Canadian dollar took a dive though and I haven’t heard anything like that going on in the past 2-3 years. If I could pull $3500 I would dump it for another leftover/low hour 17’ RMZ and swap all of my parts over that would fit. But that’s just a pipe dream, it was worth $2500 the day it hit the track up here and if I knew that beforehand I might’ve changed my mind.
