So i bought this bike from a local on another forum that visit often. First starts up and it would have have the typical bog from the bottom when you hit the throttle. I took the carb off and rebuilt it. After that it would start up fine but when you hit the has it would just die. I went back through the carb and blew out the jets and still would just die when i hit the gas off idle. So i started playing with the air screw and once it was turned 3-3.5 turns out (stock is 2-2.5) it would run better but not good. I swapped out the plug and man what a difference, must have been the original plug. Took it out to the desert last weekend and it ran good and crisp. This weekend we hit the track and i fire it up for my son, warm it up and its good to go. He get on it 20mins later and now its bogging and cutting out on mid to full throttle and just dies. I blew out the jets, played with the air screw and played with the needle and no difference. Only thing i can think of at this point is the valves need to be adjusted. Anyone else have any issues like this on the older crfs with this fcr carb? Any tips would be appreciated.
thanks

I work at a Honda shop here in New York, we always bump up the pilot jet one size right out of the box, do check the intake valves tho

I don’t know when Honda changed the carb on the CRF150R. They changed the “throw” of the accelerator pump around 2007-2009. My wife has a 2017 CRF150RB and it barely ran off the showroom floor. I bought the JD jet kit and put a fuel screw in it. It runs great but is super sensitive to the fuel screw setting. Depending on temp, I now only have to turn it 1/4 turn to get it running just right. I also noticed it bogs really bad if the air filter has too much oil on it. Hopefully this helps.

Don't recall what is in my wifes 07 crf150r because I havn't been in the carb in years. However Pro Circuit recommends going from a 38 to a 45 pilot jet for the 08. And no other changes.

Could be electrical, but before you get that far, do check the valves for sure, and if possible do a leak down while its apart for that. Did you rebuild the accelerator pump and time it properly?

Some good advice here and to break it down, as Keith72 said, run a 45 pilot. The accelerator pump needs to be cleaned, inspected and assembled to ensure all is good.

In stock form the fuel screw is a slut. If you dont have one already then buy a easy aduster and ensure you got the little o-ring, washer, spring in that order.

Dont buy an after market pilot, the bulb on the end on some are not machined correctly, wont seat when torqued. I have a 06 crf230f and the fuel screw was not easily adjustable with the carb on. I got a OEM fs for a 05 crf230f. Ez to adjust. They make a t handle fs also. Not sure if applicable to the 150s. And the donkey who owned it before me said he had the carb apart. The fs oring and washer were missing. Oh yea, and my 06 tank screen was crumbling crap into my carb. It had disintegrated.
