There are quite a few posts on TT from members who also claimed loosing topend power with that mod & most of them went back to an oem cyl..
What type of riding do you do ?
Best bike ever in terms of looks and handling
What gearing are you running? I’m currently 13/49 and think I’ll try 13/50 to see if that helps it pull 3rd better through some corners.
Pit Row
If you were to take a few laps on a bike with different cyl / head mods it would reveal to you what a difference it will make especially in the mid-top that most riders use for mx.

I've ridden an 05-07 PC CR250 and it is worlds better than stock.
The bikes are extremely reliable and durable (especially 05-07 with solid crank), and the Gen3 Honda chassis is very, very good- great turning combined with decent high speed stability. Add a few front brake upgrades (big rotor, newer CRF master cylinder) and fork/shock springs for your weight and you'll have an excellent platform.
I wasn't able to buy any VP C12 for a bit due to my local resource not getting it. I talked to the PC main engine guy running the dept. & he told me that 100 octane could be used, but would be the minimum recommended.
With the 100 octane the engine feels like a detuned version of the C12 still a potent combo though.
