Thinking about racing my 2000 yz 250 in non current. The current 43 kg springs are too soft and I found a set of 2006 YZF 450 forks to use that have the correct spring weight. My question is, will I be able to use my 2000 triple clamps, fromt wheel and brake set up with the 2006 fork legs?

Definitely not the triple clamps. Outer diameter of the upper tubes is bigger on the newer forks. Also, I think the wheel spacing is slightly different and I don't think the older brake caliper bracket will bolt to the newer forks.

Actually, you'll need the triple clamps from the 06 also... You might have to press the pin out of your triple clamps and put it in the 06 clamps for it to fit properly... Also you would need to use the 06 front wheel spacers, the bigger issue is fork length, I think the 06 450 forks are a little longer...

from what I've read on ThumperTalk and the countless hours of research I've done on this very same subject I understand that the 250 2 stroke and the 450 are the same length it's the 250 F and the 125 Forks that are shorter and those models fit each other identically I would like to know if there are any more experts on this as well as I am planning on getting a couple YZ 250 2 stroke and doing the same thing any info for the OP and myself would be appreciated as I plan to do the exact same thing. from the information I've gathered you want to try and get triple clamps from the 2004 YZ 250 those should fit the newer forks also I do know that the steering stem will be to be pressed out and you will have to use your steering stem from the YZ 250 as well but all things considered and maybe meeting wheel spacers you should be able to fit them up

I put 06 yz450 forks, triple clamps and brakes on an 02 yz 250. You don't need to press the stem out of the 450 clamps, 450 and 250 2t use the same stem. 125 and 250f use the shorter stem, from the bigger bikes. Well they used to anyway, I don't know anything about the backwards engined abominations.

Why not just get some heavier springs, those are an easy swap.
Thanks for all the tips guys. Appreciate it. The reason I am going with the 06 forks, because I have such wonderful things about them. I need new springs ($129) and I can get a set of 06 forks with the right spring rate for $250

Those stock KYB SSS forks are far better than even a high end revalved set of stock 00 forks plus for llthe money like mentioned above its a LOT cheaper to get the forks and better performance than a revalve of those older kyb's imo 9m going to do the same thing when I get a YZ250
