And here I thought I was the only one who loves his '05 RM250 so much he will never part with it......
At least I have one thing in common with the GOAT.

I think the one in his house is a genuine championship bike but I expect the one in the article is pretty much the same in terms of parts etc
Maybe 20 since they'd have to install a rewound stator.
Yep, they've had it for about 20 years.
Maybe its nice in some respects that he owns them himself in his old barns or wherever he keeps them and does not molly coddle them rather than a museum or collector who wouldn't let a speck of dust on it!
I also think it is cool how he trashes/ dumps his stuff! Sort of funny and he doesn't seem to get too precious about it all!
Great read. Thanks for sharing..
I'm going downstairs to hug my 06 RM250 now.

For an 05 rm250 today. I suppose there's some good influences on this site
Only problem with that is that the magnesium parts on those do not fair well in adverse conditions. Heck it doesn't fair well in a climate controlled environment either. Oh my, how I so wanted to go find some WD-40 and a tooth brush....

^^ Yup can hear your pain, with the magnesium parts- that stuff always reminded me of chocolate mixed with metal filings and I never really considered it to be a 'proper alloy', its abit like some alloy composition mixed with some cardboard(and chocolate) that attracts the damp!!
Maybe weightsaving but one pays the price in other ways (well over time anyway!)
Sadly the bike was stored at the owners farm and was involved in a fire that destroyed many of his machines, apparently the bike was a pool of powder when the fire was extinguised and virtually NO parts even were saved. Think that stuff (magnesium) ignites like a firework! Other machines that were involved in the fire were salvaged somewhat if possible (parts etc) but that Honda Racebike literally melted into a pile of dust with the sheer amount of magnesium parts on it, was virtually nothing at all left of it!
Owner lost about £500,000 odd from that fire and bikes lost- didn't get the insurance apparently.
One expensive pretty firework.... also a loss for moto somewhat, with J. Dunlop being so respected by so many and is good that his bikes hopefully survive- same as Ricky's I guess! Both legends in their own rights.
Do you duplicate the Makita graphics?
He never wanted the bike to kick on braking. If the suspension bottomed he did not care. I remember him saying, “If it kicks me in the butt, then I’m backing off. Just make sure the rear of the bike doesn’t kick me in the butt.’”
