Been searching for a KX125 for a few years now, couldn't come across anything around me that didn't look like it hasn't been sitting outside for the past 10 years. I only wanted a 04-05, no 03's, came across a lot of them but seems to be the odd ball year for parts so just avoided it as parts seem hard enough to come by as it is.

Heres the bike I am starting with.

Here is how it sits now.

I sent the frame out for powder coat yesterday.

Plans are:
-All green plastics
-Black wheels, thinking about going with new take off 2015 wheels and keeping these for spares
-I am already stripping paint off swing arm to the raw aluminum
-PC works pipe and shorty silencer
-Engine I am going to rebuild it with stock top end for now, It seemed like a low hours bike but it has a hot rod crank in it, haven't heard much good going for them, going to run it till it dies or I recoup some money and get it ported/polished, match the cases, and shave the head.
-Suspension, probably my favorite part about the build is I have a set of PC A kit sitting around I am going to put on the bike, I just found a set of Tag upper and lower clamps to put on it from craigslist, not very easy to find upper and lower clamps anymore, I really wanted PC but couldn't find them anywhere. PR2 is going to help me out with getting the clamps to fit the bigger forks and getting the shock to fit perfectly.

More pics to follow, parts are slowly coming in, probably after the holidays I will get the frame back and more pics will follow with the build. Also if anyone has Pro Circuit triple clamps or shock linkage, that's what I really want for this bike but I can not find anywhere.

Ehum...that's a nice case with suspension you have there that is just laying around lol
Looking good so far! How about the frame?

Besides engine stuff the parts shouldn't be hard to find. Anything off of an 05-07 250 will bolt on for the most part. I have plenty of 04 250f and 125 parts on my 250 also. Smile

A lot of 4 stroke stuff also. Calipers, master cylinders, forks, shocks, etc.

15' wheels fit but you'll need a new front rotor, different bolt pattern. I bought a 270mm kit for mine. The relocation bracket is the same.

I bought it off eBay back in 07 for $1300. I had it on my 07 250F for a few years then got a new FI 2011 bike with the SFF suspension and instead of putting this A kit on that bike I got my SFF done so its just been sitting around not on a bike for 3 years or so, I got a great deal on it and its already set up for me so I did not want to sell it. I debated on putting it on my 2004 PC 250F that was bought from PC back in 2005 but the 125 seemed more fitting for it.

Clamps and shock linkage are hard to find, also foot pegs. Of course depending on brand.

The wheels have rotors on them and I was going to buy the relocation bracket that way I can use the 270mm front rotor.

Pro Circuit still makes a link (I think?). IMS footpegs are the best I have found for aftermarket. There's always the OEM route for some stuff.

Clamps are all over Ebay if you know what to look for.

Bud Racing still produces a lot of aftermarket stuff for KX125's. http://www.bud-racing.com/fr/amfinder/

No links left at PC, called them. I was thinking about IMS pegs. I will have to check out Bud Racings site to see what they have to offer.

I powdercoated mine. I had to relace them anyway so powdercoated the rims and hubs.

Waiting on more parts to come in at the moment. I found some triple clamps on Craigslist, need to have PR2 mill them out for me to fit the forks. While there they will mod the lower clevis on the shock to make that fit as well. Need to put new steering stem bearings in and then I can contiune building more.

STILL NEED IF ANYONE CAN FIND OR HAS:
-Frame guards
-Pro Circuit shock linkage.

If anyone has any leads, please let me know. Thanks.

Hi I rarely post on here but here is one I did earlier this year....I didn't do the frame or get black wheels as money was really tight. I just thought I would share this as we both have the same bike. ☺

BTO has the works connection aluminum frame guards, they list the 125 is out of stock but they have one set for the 2005 KX250 and they might fit. I have found when searching for parts for my 06 KX250 that a lot of parts they say won't fit do fit, they just never actually referenced the late model KXs in their part listings. I may be wrong on the 125 and 250 frame being different... But it's worth a shot to check into.

Also applied still makes the 21.5 offset triple clamps for our application if the other ones dont work out for you... I searched everywhere for PC triple clamps also and couldn't find them, but, will probably buy the applied ones this spring!

I'm working on a 2004 kx125 now. It had a 58mm 144 set up when bought, and it ran great. Lost all compression about a year ago and we bought a wiseco 58mm piston.

Now the piston hits the head before the top of the stroke and (obviously) locks up. Was there a 144cc kit that used an unmodified head?

Been tearing my hair out trying to figure it out. We no longer have the old piston to identify it.

Any tips?

See if you can read the code off the old piston and Google it
