This has got to be a first on here. Someone buying a 10+ year old 4 stroke. Plenty of 2 strokes but 4 strokes?

That thing is clean but it's still a tank.

Tank? It's lighter than a 2018 rmz450 and 2018 crf450r. Not bad for 2K...

Please stop posting 13 year old pictures of a bike you bought new in 2004, then acting like you just found a used bike in that condition.

I would like to say that you did have a very nice camera in 2004 to take those pictures, though. Cool

GREAT FIND!!

I didn't realise it was on par with the newer bikes weight wise. Maybe I was thinking of the older/previous version? Wasn't there one that was over 260lbs.?

At least with the newer models if you stall it you know you'll get going again. From what I remember those older 4 strokes were a pain in the ass to restart when they were hot.

What's the plan for the bike? Trophy/Man cave? Replica? Ride it?

It's perfectly competitive in every way. They start easily. Owned that era Yamaha four strokes since they were new. Bullet proof and great bikes.

That thing is really clean. Since you already have 4 other bikes to ride maybe just take that one out once in a while for special events?

I know I loved my '04 YZ 125. Graphics are so clean looking and factory. I'd probably just replace the graphics with new stock ones and leave it as is.

I had one of these new. It was a really smooth, ultra reliable bike that started really easy hot and cold, which couldn’t be said of the competition at that time. I liked it a lot. Mine had a cone shape at the end of the silencer though and not that little teapot thing.

The 2003 onwards came with the auto decompression cam, MUCH easier to start than the earlier models.

That muffler endcap was on the Canadian/European models, while the US got the one pictured in the OP.

Fuel injection, for one spot, was good for about a 6 lb weight increase.

Great find. The 2004 yz450 is a great bike. love the steel frame feel, engine and reliability.
12/18/2017 6:37am
Electric will replace 4 strokes soon and that'll go up in value. Nice find.
