2003 CR 125 build, finshed.

I have completed my 2003 CR 125 project. The bike was tore down, with quite literally every piece of the bike replaced, upgraded, or restored. I have around 100 hours into this build. No corner cut, no expense spared. I have around 100 pictures of the rebuild process from start, to finish, which was a time period of about 6 months.

I’d like to thank a few people/ companies that helped with my build:

Fredericksburg Motorsports in Virginia (all OEM Honda parts)
Aktiv MX Graphics for designing the graphic kit
PR2 Suspension

All parts listed below are NEW, with 10 minutes run time (break in) on them. The bike has not yet seen dirt.

Eric Gorr 134cc big bore – port & polish, head mod, tuned for mid-top end
6-Speed transmission swap, from a 1997 CR 125
EVERY bearing & seal inside the motor/ tranny replaced with genuine OEM Honda parts
Pro-X crank
Wiseco top end
OEM Inner clutch basket, outer clutch basket, and clutch pack kit
DEP pipe, Pro- Circuit R-304 silencer
Boysen Rad Valve
2007 CR 125 Air Boot (more volume, better air flow, more HP)
• Also two 1” holes with air filter inserts on each side of airbox for additional air flow
Mx Bonz air filter seal kit
Maxima ready filter
Oversized radiators with welded seams
Renthal sprockets, gold chain
New Clutch cable
New Throttle cable
New Throttle tube
New Rubber cover for throttle housing & front brake lever
AOF Clutch perch
Black clutch & brake levers
New Handlebars
New grips
MX Bonz handlebar mount kit
New plastics
2014+ front fender & Cycra Stadium front number plate
Rear fender, shrouds, side number plates, mud flap, chain guide, and chain block are all new Acerbis
AktivMX graphic kit, designed to resemble 2013 Factory Honda outdoor kit
New CEET seat foam & pleated seat cover
Spec Bolt CR 125 bolt kit – Almost every bolt is new on the bike
New DID rims, powder coated black
New spokes & nipples
OEM hubs with removed casting lines, powder coated candy red
New wheel bearings
New brake rotors & hardware
New brake pads
New inner tubes
New rim locks & rim straps
New Dunlop Geomax tires
Red anodized kit
• Axle blocks, brake clevis, master cylinder covers, oil fill cap
New carburetor hoses
New Pipe springs, O-ring gasket, and Pipe/ silencer joint rubber gasket
All new chassis/ suspension bearings
• Steering stem, linkage, upper shock bearing, wheel bearings, swingarm bearings

I have also replaced the KYB open chamber forks with Showa Twin Chamber forks from a 2003 CR 250


Regrettably, this bike is for sale. I started the bike with the idea in my head that I would keep it (along with my RMZ 450). My wife and I are having our first child in July, though, so I will only be keeping one bike. That being said, the CR has to go.


*Note*
The suspension, both front & rear, was left untouched. I have worked out a deal with PR2, a GREAT suspension company, that if I get the right price for the bike, the buyer will receive FULL suspension setup along with it. This would include seals, bushings, wipers, shock bumper, springs, and valving. Considering that I am now selling the bike, I felt that it would be senseless to send the suspension out to have it serviced/ modified, when I have no idea the size or skill level of whomever will enjoy this bike.

Good luck with the sale. If no one from Vital picks it up, I would think that eBay would be a logical place to sell it, though you're likely to get more $ from parting it out.

Stephen keep it. My god. You'll find out a way. Don't sell that bike. See if Honda wants to buy it for PR display at races. (I know yea right Honda hatesb2 strokes )

I just finished my 144 a few weeks ago. And I offloaded my 13 yz450. I never had the same amount of fun on that 450. Keep that pinger.

These small big bore smokers are so much fun and after you dump your heart and soul into them they ride better than the ones rolled off the showroom. They're priceless. Well mines nowhere near
as clean as yours but it won't be worth your sweat and tears to sell that thing and keep your 450. In my opinion only---from buddy to buddy. And we miss you up in Ohio man. Come back soon. Stay at my house and we can take the bikes back to some old stomping grounds.

I have a number in mind, but would like some feedback first on what people think it is worth. I wont make a dollar on this bike, but my goal is to minimize my losses.

Man, I've thought about it so many times. But at 210Lbs. I just keep talking myself out of it. I practice some, and still like to race. What I don't want to do is keep it, get frustrated that I am underpowered racing 250B, and then sell it after it has some hours on it... then I'll lose all kinds of money.

And thanks man. The area I live in, in Virginia, sucks. I'll be back in western PA sooner than later, and will be looking forward to riding all of the Ohio/ PA area tracks.

I posted it here late last night after getting home from Elizabeth City for practice. I'll be posting it on eBay, Bike Finds, and on Craigslist in some of the popular areas along the easy coast. I can only imagine how many "That bike is 13 years old, i'll give you $1,400, a used push mower, and a case of PBR for it" offers I'll get from craigslist...

I mainly posted it on the main page just to show the bike, but since it was here I figured I'd throw it out there that I'm selling it.

VERY VERY NICE!

My only problem with super rebuilds like these, is that when that much is poured into them and they look that fancy, I just wouldn't want to actually get it dirty. You should get good money for it. How much do you currently have invested in it?

It's hard for me to guess how much you have put into this as I am from the uk and work in £££ but I am going to say $4350 ?

I'm around 5K into the build.

I am asking $3,900. At that price I will pay for the owner to have the suspension done by PR2. If the buyer does not want PR2 suspension, then we can go from there.

Good idea. I'll have to take a video of that when I get home from work tonight. It sounds mean. I rode it in my neighborhood to put a load on the piston, for break in. Only 125 that's ever stood up on me, not on purpose... And I'm 210lbs. Its a ripper, for sure.

Wow, that is more than reasonable. I would have asked for a number closer to the build. If you don't need the cash right away, the right guy would pay for the quality that you have put into the bike. Just MHO. If I had the cash I would buy that bad boy right now, but so would many of us on here I suppose!

The 1995-1997 transmission bolts right up inside the 2002-2003 cases. There are tons of articles online about it, shifter cart guys do it a lot.

Sick bike, buy according to the vital 2 stroke guys, 2 strokes are hard to find, guess its easy to talk about spending money than actually doing it.
