Less risk for first turn pile up which is 100% lottery right now. Would lead to some more action in heat races to make first row? Also make riders more open to triple crown since starts is what most says is risky part.
I know it isn't going to be popular, but I think if you want a better show, do this, and put the fast riders on the back row.
Award points in the heat races and/or bonus points for a win from the back row.

I think it is ridiculous a whole championship, 17 races, can fall apart for a first bad start and you have no way of controlling it.
2 rows gives something more to race for in qualification and in heat races. After first turn no one will see it was a 2 row start but instead you could possibly say have the risk is eliminated going into turn one.
Although I wouldn't want to be lined up behind Blake Baggett
