The 2 strokes were quite well developed there at the end, and quite similar. Made for some good racing. The 4 strokes are still getting sorted out. That freight train of RC, Stewart and Reed sure was exciting to watch at times.

I think for sure the motocross championship where james was on 2-stroke and ricky on the banger would have been interesting, but Ricky probably would have taken it down still, james was just too wild (but crazy fun to watch) in those days

That and RC and CR wouldn't have complained about jumps they couldn't do because they was on a 2t as they was already doing them. Smile

JS complaints about Laroco's leap. LOL Too hard to do on a 2t.

Actually I recall Stewart doing Larocco's on a 125 a few times...either way we're talking more along the lines of racing and championships...not just the jumps.

And yet 250 two strokes have done that jump since as far back as I can remember. Chad was way better on a two stroke in my opinion, but I say Ricky Still wins all the titles. He's just the greatest ever. James was also better on a two stroke, but definitely adapted way better than Chad did. I really miss the two strokes. I have a lot of races taped from 00-05 and I watch them regularly. Better racing, better sound, better smell, etc etc....

Tracks would be better and there would be far fewer injuries I think.

I think Ricky would still win all his championships cause he was the goat. I think chad would win the SXs after ricky and JS would win the outdoors. It's hard to say about the newer guys like Trey,RD,and RV

I think the four stroke hurt Chad Reed. He was fast on the YZ250. The four stroke all hurt RR and Mike Brown's career. Both were two stroke specialists.

Chad would have won more races, and maybe another title or two.

James Stewart would out ride them all....I don't think either Chad or Ricky could ride a two stroke like James could/can.

And don't put them all on 125's. He would absolutely destroy them. Best 125 rider ever

In 2006, at the same race RC DNF'ed, James Stewart slid out in a corner and couldn't get his bike to start. He was lapped trying to restart his bike, and I think he only made up like 2 or 4 points on RC that night when he should have taken over the points lead.

James would be closer to 72 Sx wins if 4-strokes never came alive.

That would be St Louis. That same night two crazy things happened. I watched Chad never pull out the triple triple double section from practice through the heats when everybody else was doing it. I then saw RC take the worst spill of his career in the whoops head first and wonder in amazement how he walked away(only to have his shock collar break in the main). Then i watched Chad finally bust out the triple triple section in the main and completely destroy everyone else along with the fastest lap of the night by over a second. How that guy does the sections perfect when he truly needs to is beyond me. Another example is Salt Lake City 09 battling James.

Chad's skills on a two stroke were amazing. He moved and flowed on the bike much, much more than on any 450 he has ridden. I say Chad wins more if everyone stayed on two strokes. RC still would have dominated, but Chad much closer. James would have been there abouts, but probably would have needed more time to develop on the KX 250.

Mickael Pichon would have won 2003 and probably a few more years. Stefan Everst would not have been as succesful as he was on the 4stroke in the GP's. The combination Everts and the 4stroke made MX in Europe very boring during 2004-05-06.

I think Chad would have done better on the twostroke in SX and so would DV12. RC would have killed it outdoors and James would have 50% killing it everywhere and 50% killing himself.

The 450 made everyone calm down and ride far from the edge.

Ok, for the simple pleasure of speculation and debate. Had 4-strokes not taken over the sport the way they have, would any of the supercross or motocross championships in recent years have played out any differently?

For instance: Reed was a 2-stroke specialist and had his YZ250 dialed at the end of '05 season (after a slow start) and won several races, narrowly losing the championship to RC. Reed struggled the following year on his YZ450 while Ricky and James seemed to adapt more quickly. Had everyone stayed on 2-strokes, would James, Reed, Ricky or someone else...say...Windham, won any more or less?

Have fun.........
Yea In 05 his rookie year on the big bike...blaming the bike yet his teammate bryne on the same bike jumped it every lap. Even bailey called him out on that.
His whole career he dominated until 05....he had to blame something

stewart did not like the 05 kx250 he stated that it was scary to ride it was so fast
charmicheal did not like the motor on the cr250 although he loved the rm250

I saw in an interview he said it took them over half the season to get the bike to where it needed to be (comparable to the '04). Makes sense that he won more races later in the series.

I know it's a minor point, but you do know the difference between animal, vegetable, mineral, and machinery, right? Or something being alive and not alive?
