So it seems. I expected him aswell. Also no Farres, Johnston, Martínez or Quarti. Maxime Grau is out with Epstein-Barr.

Interesting to see who steps up in EMX250 and challenges Elzinga. He was 3rd overall last year, moved to a better team and most out of the top 10 from last year are not present.

Tøndel and Bonacorsi probably, maybe Talviku. Then you never know with the 125 guys that step up. I’m a bit scared to see how Sasha Coenen does, I mean he’s probably quick but atleast last year he was pretty small and couldn’t keep the 125 on two wheels and had some massive crashes.

Is Bonacorsi riding after his crash last weekend?

Coenen brothers were pretty solid at Spanish championship races but nothing special and couple crashes.
I think it will take season to get ahead of competition like he was 125.

A sunny but rather chilly weekend predicted: around 10°C (about 50° F) by day and some light frost during the night. Should be good!

Wall was there but Gajser did run over it when cutting track. They should put fence on service road to block cutting back to next corner.

Didn't they have a wall (perhaps not a full one - it was a combination of wall and banners / signage?) there at the GPs and MXDN?

With that corner, you'll still have riders being punted over that 'wall'. There's a couple of 1st turns in MXGP I'd like to see sorted, a bit better, that seem to be tailor made for disaster. There at Mantova, and Arco Di Trentino come to mind, straight away.

You're there - have they widened the track at that point, where riders got punted out / went out? That would be a help - it does look a bit roomier from your picture.

There needs to be open section (without that 'wall') on that 2nd straight, but well towards the 2nd corner, for regaining the track. Riders who've been punted off / gone off the track, need a legit , safe way back onto the track. A wall / wall and signage all the way to the 2nd corner, makes it bloody difficult for track re-entry. And, the gap after the 2nd corner through to the jump on the 3rd straight, should be thoroughly closed off; that was a part of last years controversies.

Inshall´ah Horgmo doesn´t throw it away this weekend. He could have made the podium if only he could stay on the bike. Fredriksen should be around where Horgmo finished last weekend: between 5-10th for now.
Østerhagen has been pretty good at the track before, unsure of Tøndel. Thought he was a hardcpacked rider.

I´m so excited for this season. We never have good riders, and all of a sudden we have several up and comers. Norwegian tracks are utter garbage, so our riders tend to crash and/or injure themselves a lot when racing on the international level. But I think these 4 grew up racing on the continent a lot more than previous generations.

What they had there before when Gajser was hit off the track was an angled bank, this is a vertical wall.

I agree. With this 'wall', should riders lock bars and not make the turn, it's not going to end well. All that was needed was something to block the gap between turn two and the next jump.

I really really want to see Horgmo put it together, one good weekend could set him up for the whole season.

Here's the wall and the gap that is available should they somehow get over the wall

I agree, one good race will set his confidence for the remainder of the season, barring injuries. And it seems like his good performances have trickled down to the others too. Fredriksen seemed to pick things up when he saw Horgmo was doing good last year.

How Infront look at both classes and think it’s fine is absolutely beyond me. The MX2 is an absolutely woeful spectacle this year. At Matterley there was barely enough in MX2 to give all the points out by the time the Sunday motos rolled around. There aren’t a great deal more in Mantova, but 70 250 guys showed up to have a go at qualifying for EMX250.

In the morning free practice sessions there were 38 riders in EMX250 who were faster than the 20th guy in MX2. In the MX2 qualifying race Filip Olsson was 15th, his fastest lap of the race was a 2:01. There were 27 riders in the first EMX250 race who did a 2:01 or better as their fastest lap. I know track conditions change, but those races were on one after the other, it’s as close a comparison as you can get. It’s absolutely brain dead that we’re barely filling half the gate in MX2 whilst 20-30 other 250 riders race in a different class with exactly the same rules. The problem is clear as day

The MX2 class needs to drop to down to the level of accessibility that EMX250 has. Reduce the entry fee to the same as the European. Have 80 guys turn up and try and qualify to race the Grand Prix. Seed the Top 10 in the championship each week and run qualifying for the last 30 spots. Looking at MX2 this year it’s embarrassing to call it a world championship

Or just quit the age limit in mx2. You easily fill out the mx2 grid with guys who scored top 15s but are to old for mx2 but dont have a spot in mxgp.

I think it needs both to be honest, even if you get rid of the age limit there is still a financial barrier to racing MX2. The privateer is basically dead in Europe. They need to allow riders to turn up and have a go without being on the official teams list
