Picked this up last night off of craigs list. Should be a fun Restoration/McGrath Replica project. I've seen a few on this site and it got me motivated. I will post periodic updates.

Had a '96 and loved it. One of a very few bikes I never should have sold.

CamP on here has one close to that model and has some nice setup tips with the forks and overall suspension.

I've had both 125 and 250s from '96, both great bikes and I wish I still had them.

yeah seriously, you started a major trend buddy.

i started doing one randomly cause my dad found a 93 for $500 that already had some good parts on it so it was a no brainer. i think we have less than 1500 in it including the bike and its almost done...and yes it has all the bells and whistles with the 47mm Showas etc etc etc

Actually, watching your restoration was what really motivated me. Thanks for all of the great pics and ideas. I hope it turns out as nice as yours did.

Looks like fun. I just finished my '08 450. A LOT of work and money, but I think it turned out pretty nice. Kept me busy while my shoulder was healing.

Didn't mean to thread jack, I like watching the projects develop, I didn't even think about starting a thread.

It's almost ridiculous how much better looking the 96 are compared to the first gen alu, what was Honda thinking?

Frame, Subframe and hubs $190.00 from Glendale Powedercoating in AZ. Quite possibly the nicest people I've ever met. I cant remember their names but I think one of them was Ron???

Im gonna keep the old parts as spares for now. If I decide to sell any I will PM you.

BTW..just so i don't take undeserved credit, Donny Plouffe, former Pro Circuit Mechanic for Jimmy Gaddis when he won the West Coast Supercross #1 plate is the mechanic on this rebuild. I was gonna do it myself but I am certain i would have jacked something up. Donny is the owner of The Pit Enterprise in Phoenix and he has been my mechanic for 10+ years. I wanted to do it myself but he almost beat me when i mentioned it. I thought is safer for all of us if I let him do it. He's the ultimate perfectionist so i'm in good hands, plus i was scared. Smile
