I have been trying to sell my 500 and I have had no bites?! It was going to get the treatment and be my project but I bought another bike... So the bike it’s not perfect but it’s nice, I put a new Pro x piston.has decent tires, title in hand. $2800?!? My buddy says it’s easier and worth more to part out.soooo. Do I part out or just hang in there and wait for a bite.. and I realize that it is a shitty time to sell bike but I want money to work on my new project 81 RM 250... thanks for all your vital wisdom

Seems like it would be a lot more tedious to part it out. I think you will get an offer if you keep posting it. Did you try the facebook market place? Craigslist, etc etc.

I don’t have Facebook or instagram.. vital is my only social media I have?? I have it on a local newspaper website that I have sold stuff on before.. but I’m holding off on Craigslist because of the shit you have to sort through to get real offers..

That pipe looks lovely and trick- no dents and all is it a pro circuit? In UK reckon that bike would get equivalent of maybe $4000 odd! Not that it is so relevant as older bikes seem cheaper in US.

It’s worth $2800. I wouldn’t try parting it out, you’ll regret it. If you were in California, I might be interested. I need another project.

Pipe is raw pro circuit.. and has a number stamped on it.. I don’t remember it off the top of my head though.

No not that I’m aware of... but I bought it from some old desert dude that was team green back in the day... he had like 8-10 kx 500’s in his shop along with all the OEM parts a 500 guy could dream of..

That has to be a good selling point- wouldn't surprise me if it was breathed on if he was ex Team Green and had a stack of stuff in his shop. Someone will bite I reckon... eventually.

If you really want to sell it then you will have to put it on Craig's list. You will have to sort through some crap, but somebody will take it eventually. Put NO TRADES a couple times in the listing and it usually helps if you say something about no tire kickers and don't waste my time, blah blah blah.

Put it on the KSL classifieds out of Utah. There are a lot of people who scan those listings even in surrounding states.

Bike is complete, my $.02 is to keep it whole and find the right buyer. I'd be interested as Langham is but have a 500 project I'm working on right now.

Those are some tall bars! Wonder if this was Brian Brown's bike??

2800 all day. When I was looking I would have definitely have gave you 2800. Looks a lot better than the one I bought for 2600. But I got her ass right though :D

these bikes in Australia go for $4500 or if been restored $7000 and sell like hot cakes!
I paid $3,300 including shipping for my one in 2014 and that was from Cali to Sydney.

How does it run with the PC pipe/FMF silencer combo? I've noticed the exhaust choice makes a huge difference on the KX500. If you end up parting it I'll take the spark arrestor.

It rips but I have only rode stock otherwise , and I also am not fast enough to tell the difference of pipes on a 500.. it rips with stock,it rips with the setup I have..

Don’t know th logistics either seems like a head ache, sounds like a awesome way to get scammed, I still like the old school face to face meet and handshake sell??‍♂️??‍♂️

Just out of interest, did people tune/ port 2T 500's much? I would guess probably not as they had a load anyway- but maybe some did? (Sure way to get into hospital quicker!?)
Lovely bikes- I preferred the 80's ones but also these 90's ones are growing on me also.

Yea- not sure- I think though the scamming aspect has actually improved(possibly harder to scam nowdays)- or at least with Ebay. Guess the rule is do not send/ post until cash is received and all the other things that may apply.

Be patient. Buyer is out there. It’s worth what you’re asking however the buyer pool for that bike is shallow but serious. Hang in there.
