Holy shit, he's had 25 concussions? How on earth does he even manage to tie his shoes? I'm terrified for what's going to happen to his life in 10, 15 years...

Exactly. He'll make Cassius Clay look coherent. Fun now, but he'll regret it in later life.

Holy crap,

I have been there for nearly all those X games crashes and witnessing the double backflip was seriously, probably THE sporting highlight of my life and I have seen a few.

You could cut the air with the suspense that night.

I remember after the first round he was sitting in third the year he did the double back. Debbie Pastrana was sitting to the left of the judges table with sunglasses on and just a nervous wreck. She grabbed my arm, raised her glasses and looked me in the eye and said "you guys are forcing him into doing this trick" (because he was sitting third). At that moment, I had the most nervous feeling in my stomach that is was going to happen.

It was just the way it worked out that year, his first round trick was a legitimate third place trick for the comp. But the real feeling of his mother not wanting him to do it, still brings butterflies to my stomach. I had hoped so bad that he just stay safe. I think everyone there that night had the same feeling. when he dropped in, it was silent. just like the video.

What a freaking bad ass

Double-back? Biggest moment in sports history. Carey Hart's first attempt not far behind though.

Well, at 50 years old, I can laugh at the stupidity of that comment.

Travis brought something to the table that no one else ever has. No one gets crowds as excited as he does.

I'm scared for the guy. Just look at whats happening to boxers, hockey and fooball players years after they retire. Scary shit.

The word is naive, look it up junior.

Just off the top of my head I would say, watch your family grow, and enjoy the fruits of all of your hard work. Life is what you make it..... Having had the privelage to spend time with TP on several occasions. The dude does everything he does full tilt. I dont care what it is, its a competition. You could show him a clip of what he will be like as an older man. He would still live the exact same way that he does.

Travis is a one of a kind person, you can't really understand a guy like that.

Some folks live their whole lives and are happy....
You get to experience some great things if you live long and there are certainly many things that happen you would surely miss if the consequences of youth took away your ability to enjoy or even understand them,

But you have to have guys like Travis, guys who know the outcome could be horrible and they still suit up and go.
That's what makes a guy like that a legend.....the ability to make it happen and the steel to do it.
