Just heard Travis is in the hospital in Florida from injuries sustained in some sort of parachute accident. That’s all I know.

I thought he lost his parachute license after the no chute jump.

Damn, that could have been bad. Glad he's going to be okay.

Did he even have a license when he did that?

That could be why he didn't use a parachute

He was readmitted back into the USPA a few years later.

Sounds rough, speedy recovery.
I think he had a really gnarly pelvis injury When he was young. I remember him coming up short jumping some ridiculous gap on a mini.

I broke my pelvis in two places. It's a very painful injury. It's hard to move your body without affecting the pelvis, and lots of nerves around it. 199 is in a world of pain right now. I'm glad it wasn't worse.

Man...I don't envy his body as he ages further...

It's bad enough as a normal non-super hero person.

It's going to be rough when he gets older. At 51 I'm feeling it and I'm nowhere near the amount of injuries he has clocked.
Best wishes to TP.

I get goosebumps everytime I watch that vid of the first double backflip he landed. A bunch of us watched it live on TV and we partied pretty hard afterwards.

It looks like he was base jumping. Doesn’t need a license for that.

Wishing him a speedy recovery.

Damn the dude is probably the most amazing human in history for all the crazy shit he's done without permanently wrecking himself. Skills beyond belief. But he went in hard. Pretty lucky to be alive after that. 199 lives.

He dislocated his spine from his pelvis coming up short on a 120 foot fmx jump at age 15. Glad he’s alive. I started his whiskey throttle interview today.

If you click this link and then go to the Instagram post you can see Travis responding to people calling him out as messing up the jump. Travis is posting Instagram comments from a hospital bed with a broken pelvis basically saying “you’re right, I panicked and messed up the landing. I zigged when I should’ve zagged.”

The guy almost died and is taking total ownership of the mishap by posting humbled and friendly messages to strangers on the internet. I’ve never seen that much class from any pro athlete.

As a D-licensed skydiver with well over three thousand jumps, it's easy to see this guy didn't pull too low.
He was under a fully inflated canopy.
He simply wasn't setting himself up for a proper landing.
He low hook turned himself into the ground.

Fuckin base jumpers.

He said

@michael7041 replied to the video:
That was not a late deployment issue. He turned too low. This is 100% pilot error.

@travispastrana responds
@michael7041 yep that is correct. Pretty simple landing area. Opened 90* right when I was hoping to go left for my pattern. Panicked and didn’t release the brakes and made a poor call to stick with the original (into the wind) pattern but the canopy reacted slower that expected with the brakes on (my fault) and by the time I realized I was too low it was too late. Huge thanks to all the amazing people on safety who made sure it was as safe as it could be and that I was taken care of right away. Sorry to the BASE jump community for a pilot error that will impact future fun and excitement for jumpers and onlookers alike. It was fun until it wasn’t. This should have been a lay up but it was pretty much worst case outcome. Still on the mend. Thanks for the support

Pastrana is a super talented and classy guy. He has nothing left to prove to anyone.

I just hope that we aren’t saying “Pastrana was a super talented and classy guy “ in the near future.

TP isn't going to get old. Dudes like him never do, it's just a matter of time before his family has no husband/father.

This dude's list of injuries is absolutely insane. I don't know how he's not on a morphine drip daily already let alone able to walk straight.

I was just watching his excellent WT appearance and it's chilling to think what could have occurred right after and how devastating that would have been. The dude truly has 199 lives.

Kind of ironic that during the Whiskey Throttle Show, Travis mentioned his wife wasn't really wild on the idea of him base jumping, then this happens.
