Cool video posted today by Gary Bailey. Track still owned by the Bailey family(I believe). Good close-up action starting @ 4 min. mark.

Caught that this morning. Been off work for the past couple weeks and I've been watching a lot of old youtube racing on the smart tv.

Cant wait to watch it. Bob Baileys grand son Ryan owns it now and takes great care of the place. Its always watered and plowed to perfection every weekend and Wednesday nights. Im going there to ride tomorrow. Oh and you still see Gary riding around on his four wheeler on the weekends.

Just found the 1980 Unadilla Trans AMA race. Still grass on the track in practice.

Every generation has "the good old days" or " when we were kids". Growing up in the 70's and 80's was great, only problem is I am still not "grown up".

Cheers!

That's so awesome dude! Your drummer rockin' the Simmons drums. You didn't see those very often with local bands (maybe you weren't local, IDK).
And is that a Steinberger bass? How come the drum fills kept going on the vid after he stopped at the intro?

It's so funny. Gary posted that video and the audio was like 3 seconds off. I sent it to my old band mates and the drummer took about 5 minutes to try to get it a little closer. He made it way better, but still a bit off off. We toured the US and British West Indies for quite some time, and this is the only video footage that I've ever sen of our band. Times change, huh? lol!

I was laying in bed surfing the net and literally clicked the race link and saw us. Crazy.

Cheers to Gary Bailey for his YouTube channel and the recent videos uploaded. Especially during the current day challenges we all face. 👍

Wow this is amazing. So many things come to mind when I see this. That was the first national I ever went to, I had started racing a couple months before (also at LST). I just remember my head spinning watching all of those guys go by and seeing it all in person after knowing then in the magazines.
And 30-ofd years later, what I really notice is how far ahead of his time Lechiens technique was. RJ is full send to go that speed and Ronnie looks like he is out for a Sunday joyride!
I am very much looking forward to visiting there again soon. Was supposed to do an AHRMA race there in May but I guess that will have to wait.

I was pretty amazed that Lechien passed Johnson during that first moto. Obviously Lechien was great but to straight up catch and pass RJ in his prime? That is a very rare occurrence.

Stanton is looking pretty good for riding a dinosaur YZ, which bring up some trivia....who is the last guy to win a National moto (he didn't win the overall) on an air cooled bike?

I was also working for GB for this summer. I hosted a bikini contest locally the week before and picked 6 girls, and during the middle of our concert on Saturday night we had the finals. I think you’d get arrested for that stuff now, lol!

If you're not following Gary Bailey's YouTube channel, you're missing out. MX legends, exotic factory bikes, long lost tracks, it's all there. And the audio....damn, just listening to those crisp factory 2-strokes.

I played in bands, too, and someone recently posted a video of my old band from 1985. Same thing- it was pretty mind-boggling. You guys sounded good.

I wondered what happened to Ward and found out he scored no points that day. He was already nursing some injuries too. Hollywood Holley 5th overall and one of (3) Yamaha's in the top 5 five overall in the 500's. Also cool to see Rick Ryan and Tyson Vohland (both NorCal) in the top 7 for 125's.

Ah ok , don't know why I thought Washougal. I think these races are on the vault youtube channel . Damon was really competitive on the old air hammer .

That's a great shirt as Bailey would have carried the #1 plate in '87 in the 500's. I see it's an '88 shirt, but made me of think of that tidbit. GEAR race-wear, wore that for a couple years during that time-frame.
