These are Suzuki’s brochures for their 1986 Motocross lineup. I have included both the US and Japanese versions for your reading pleasure.

Is that really how you pronounce Nissan, 'niece-son'?
In oz it's just how it's spelt, 'niss-anne'.

My buddy had an '86 RM125, and that thing was a total dog. I wouldn't mind having one today though. You know, for nostalgia's sake.

Loved the blue engines and frames, and the black pipe against the blue was sick. I coveted the 86 RMs so much. Rode a 86 RM125 a few years later and even with a pipe it was soooo slow.

I had an ‘86 RM125. The most noticeable gain you did with those was to dump $3, $4, or $500 into the motor. It would have the effect of lightening your wallet. Didn’t go any faster but hey, it kept the economy going, right.
I rode a friends stock CR125 shortly after and that bike was like riding a 250!

I test rode the 80 (I had just turned 12), and it was great compared to what they were before. But having already spent a couple years on KX 80's before that, it still had a ways to go. I will say though that was my first experience with excellent cornering Suzuki was known for, as that thing would go anywhere. Looked damn good too......

I love the blue engines too. But I was happy to switch from Suzuki to Kawy for 86. I rode them both back to back before deciding as my shop wanted me to stay yellow again the time. At least to me, the Kawy was much better. Went back to yellow one last time for the one year model 88’ RM250. That bike was really good. Never been back since though

Had a buddy get a barely used 1987 RM250 to replace his 1986 KX125. I was riding a 1987 CR125 at the time.

I rode it for 2 or 3 laps and handed it back. My 125 was faster. So was his old one LOL.

I guess I am alone in this, but color-theme painted engines have always spoke as tractor-like to me. I can't really think of where else they are the norm.
