HaHa thanks for sharing. My buddy had a brand new 84 CR and it was a really good bike compared to the 83. The KX was a rocket in 84

Thanks for sharing! I know the KX80 was the bike in 84, but I always loved the CR.
I rode both and the CR was junk compared to the KX, so i chose green.

I had kx 80 from 83, 84, 85. Back then there would be full gates at places like mosier valley mx, swan mx, burleson mx, lake whitney, in texas. Those full gates woul be almost all kx 80 with just a few other brands like one cr, yz or rm. Kawasaki rulled that era. Raced guys like Jason Langford, Jason Upshaw, billy whitley, jason Shultz, all on Kawasaki. Jeff emig, denny Stephenson, also at lake whitney sring national on kawasaki.

The 84 KX was a great mini, but just not quite as quick as the 83. It just didn't pull as hard off the bottom, but was still so far ahead of it's competition it really didn't matter. Of that generation bike, the 85 was the best of all. 86 it all went to hell.....

I'm sure you are correct. The KX was head and shoulders above the rest, with it's power, front disc, etc. I did ride my friend's 84 KX80, but the handling threw me off, so I stuck with my Honda.
