There is a very popular concert venue called Glen Helen Amphitheater further up the canyon from the race track. Big outdoor venue.

The 83' US Festival was arguably the greatest gathering of Rock n Roll talent, ever! Defintiley an event I wish I could've attended.

As an aside, there was a thread on this topic several years ago. If I remember correctly, Guy B was in attendance, along with some other Vital members.

I flew from FL to the 1982 US festival. Missed Friday acts. Had to work. Got there on Sat. when Santana was playing. Concerts were financed by Woz. Parts of the concerts are on Roku. Got a ride from LAX with a guy who been Danny Laporte's mechanic when Danny was riding the Franks bikes.

A buddy and I went all 3 days and slept in the back of my truck. It was hot af. We nicknamed it the Dust festival. I don't remember a whole lot else....

The best was when the 24hr and knotfest were on the same night. Watched the concert then walked over to watch the boys at the 24hr

I was 14 when we went in 1983. There were shuttle busses out of the valley to the event. A little different times back then, I walked on the bus with two cases of beer. The amount of people there was insane and so was the heat. Great memories!

David Lee Roth interviews b4 the concert where really funny. Biggest concert ever up to that point. Van Halen was the highest paid band. Missing persons rocked hard last song of there set, nobody walks in LA.
