So the oddest thing happened to me this weekend. I received my Yosh exhaust on Saturday. So i went to install it on my bike on Sunday. the has just shy of an hour on it. I start it up to get a sound comparison. Shut it off and let it cool off for a bit. Then i follow the directions and install the Yosh pipe. Go to fire the bike up. There is nothing, acts like it is completely dead. Like the starter button isn't even hooked up. I didn't have my multimeter on me so i just did the quick thing and checked the fuse in the starter relay, it's good. Next up i guess i'll start check to make sure the battery didn't some how die, then from there see where i am not getting power at.

Any else have this happen to theirs?

Known issue, check ThumperTalk.... I just bought a new 18’ YZ450 and the battery went to zero volts after my first ride, it won’t charge, replaced with a bigger better battery

Thanks. I'll check that out. You might be onto something here because afterwards i threw my battery tender on it and it instantly went to charging mode not storage mode as if the battery was dead. I'll check tonight to see if it's dead when i get home. How irritating, brand new back and battery might be dead, c'mon Yamaha!

I've got a 19 yz250f that has 15 hours and I've had my fair share of problems. At 10 hours, it got hard to start. At 15 hours, wouldn't start at all. Checked the plug, it was completely black. I put a new one in but it still wouldn't start. Took it back to the dealer and they took it apart to find a bunch of carbon on the valves. The exhaust valves were stuck wide open from all the carbon. I'm waiting to hear back on whether or not this will be warrantied by Yamaha. I ran 93 pump, oil changed every 2-3 hours, air filter kept clean, ran on stock map. I'm thinking the stock maps are too rich. Something to watch out for.

Zero issues with ours, definitely no regrets with the Yamaha.

10hrs no issues with mine.

The only kind of issue I have had is hard starting after a wash, but I discovered that my twin air airbox plug isn't as good as most others I've used and was letting some water by it which in turn was creating hard starting when id get to the track.

I also noticed on mine that over oiling the air filter can cause hard starting, anyone else noticed?

I've got two '19's, one my son's and one mine. His stock battery crapped out at about 27 hours. Replaced with Tusk Lithium and it shit the bed with only a few hours on it, developed an intermittent short. RM has a 2 year warranty on them but out of stock. So they did 100% refund and I bought a Anitgravity brand. Only have a couple of rides on it but so far so good. I do plan on buying a spare to keep on the trailer or one of those GET jump packs for long trail rides...

....and we all just had to have e start....

Do you have the part number for the WPS battery?

I don’t, our local parts guy ordered for us. I believe you can go in and see what it calls for. It should show you which one to get.

I try a different brand of fuel or even just a different station. Try the leanest mapping. Could be the fuel, could be a EFI sensor issue.

Good ideas, I'm gonna start mixing 93 with T4 and use a leaner map. I don't think it was a problem with the gas because my buddy was using the same gas can for his 17 YZ250F and doesn't have any problems. I think it was mostly the mapping and riding tight tracks and not really revving the bike out hard, but I'm not sure.

i ended up putting a antigravity battery in it and it fired up like a dream. pathetic Yamaha battery was dead with .3 hours on it.

BTW i have no reviews on this 2019 yz250f on if i'd buy another because i haven't even rode it yet. But i'll have some more information after this weekend when i finally get to ride it.

Get some Yamalube Ring Free.

A little bit expensive but well worth it and it lasts a long time.

Half oz to 5 gallons.

45 hard hours on ours with no issues. Going to pull it apart and put a piston in soon will report back on the valve lash, it was perfect at 25 hours.

There are some reports of the 19 having motor issues, but not sure if the motors are stock or otherwise.

Your intuitive calculation of which bikes are the most reliable based on internet reports is more than likely completely off. You know why you don’t hear about Suzukis breaking very often? Not many people ride them. The 19 YZ250F was the most popular bike, so you’d expect to hear the most issues with it. It’s called base rates.

18 hours here and zero issues except a bent front rotor. Not sure how it happened.

There is no intuitive calculation. I have a 15 Yz250fx and want to upgrade. However, there is a known issue with carbon buildup. This is what i am after. If its just a freak thing then thats ok. It sounds to me like some of the older 19’s had it, but it is no longer an issue.

Yamaha doesn't design or manufacture the battery.

We broke a clutch disk at 23 hrs, 1 hr after changing oil. Disk gummed up the oil and starved top end of oil resulting in new cylinder and exhaust cam. Took it to our local dealer because it started ticking and they found the damage, and scolded me for never changing oil even though I told them otherwise. Anyways, they fixed the top end and gave it back with the broken clutch disk. Repaired clutch myself after getting scolded for nothing from dealer. .5 hrs later it stopped running this time. Kind of acts like there is a rag in the airbox and every time you twist throttle it dies like it sucked the rag up. It's been at a different dealer for 4 weeks now, still no word wtf is going on. First time Yamaha, will NEVER buy one again.

Sound advice: never buy a first year redesigned bike regardless of brand.

Clutch abuse. Plain and simple. What kind of oil were you running???

No way a plate breaks under normal wear and tear.
