I would go with the 19. Yeah you have to pay 1,6k more for it but the re-sell value is higher and the bike is better overall.

And to be fair, 1,6k in parts doesn't get you that far if you buy a 18. Unless you buy aftermarket parts second hand.
Speaking of that...I have a full Yoshimura Ti/Carbon exhaust system for sale if anyone wants? $450 fits 16-18. I’m picking up my 19 in 2 weeks!

Comparing the 2018 125-450 versus 2019 125-450 T Hose and the 19 ID is 5mm larger for better flow. 18 450 Factory Edition / Rockstar edition were the 1st to get the new larger T hose.

Wait (and hope) for the 1k rebates on the 19’s ....although not entirely sure they ever DID put them on the 18’s yet! Rumor was all the offroad rebate $$ went to the road bike side this time...

No rebates available on leftover SX models, according to the 9 states and dozens of dealers I called a few weeks ago. They all said KTM was offering great financing instead. Anything off of MSRP is the dealer taking it off.

Again, that was three weeks ago and only what I was told. That doesn’t make me right.

You can’t do anything worthwhile for $1600. Buy the new one, you will probably regret it if you don’t. But they are both great bikes. One is just a little greater.

$1,600 is 2/3 the cost of a stroker kit from 440source for my big block Mopar. So yeah, it adds up to something. Maybe not bike related, but it’s $1,600 towards something.

That didn’t come across like I meant. Of course you can do lots of stuff with $1600, that will buy lots of beer. I meant to improve the 18 to be as good as the new 19 bike. But I think you could buy a set of ohlins inserts for the fork, those do work good, I don’t think it’s quite enough for a sss conversion which I don’t think work as good any way. I’ve ridden both.

Its close. The 18 theoretically needs more $ spent to make it as good as the 19. A year or 3 from now, ones newer, and worth more.

I have a new KTM 450 (FE) same as the 19's but with the new cooling system these bikes DO NOT over-heat! Not even close. That really helps with longevity and rebuild intervals and piece of mind. Mine gets trail ridden out here in the desert (90+ degree weather) and MX.

I know what you meant, and I get it.

I justify my purchase of a leftover ‘18 with the fact I’m very happy with the 15.5-18 chassis, along with the ‘18 suspension. I doubt the changes to the ‘19 are going to be super beneficial to me, as I’m just a slow 40+ rider. As far as the price savings go, I’m saving more than the $1,600 because I was able to pull the Rekluse out of my 250f and use it in the 350, something I wouldn’t be able to do had I bought a ‘19. Other little factors that played a role would be that I have several sets of new 15.5-18 plastic kits here and the ‘18 has the orange frame. That’s big to me, because the dark frame is ugly to me. Saves me from having to rip the bike apart to powder coat the new frame.

Totally sounds like the 18 is the bike for you. Get it and moto down, you will love it. Both are very good bikes. Truthfully the 19 feels almost the same as the18 to me, very very similar in feel.

Either bike you will be stoked.

The clutch from the 16-18s will work in the 19s.

1) Would the ‘19 clutch, and easier pull, go in the ‘18?

2) Was overheating ever an issue on the ‘18s? Or, to be more specific, would you expect overheating with a Vet B/A rider on an east coast high 90s summer day?

The Hinson guys said the 18 clutch’s would work. Not sure if you’d want to put a OEM 18 clutch on there because the new one is supposed to be better. But feel wise yes I think the 5 springs like 18 used would be easier pull then the diaphragm spring.
