you forgot the 17" wheel craze.....
back in the day....raced a shop bike with the 17 23 combo.....
wasn't worse or better...just different...guess I should have added a tooth to the rear sprocket....

Yeah, instead of best of both worlds I find 27.5 to be worst of both worlds.
