Rmz450 to 16 sxf 450

Edited Date/Time 10/28/2015 7:07am
Been on rm's since 05. Really love the 08-15 rmz 450's but the forks on the 13-14 (currently on a 14) are absolutely horrible and I am not wanting to go to the air fork yet. Yes I could get some spring forks but I want a change. My bother in law has a 15 yz 450 and I like it but would take some time to get use to. The shrouds feel very wide and just overall different feel. My questions is has anyone made the switch from the rm to 16 sx and was it a good move? I'm 6'1" so I'm a taller. Expert rider thanks

I went from an 06 RMZ to a 13 KTM 450 and love the KTM. I didn't experience the issues with the forks that others have. I'm 6'3" and fell the bigger size suits me better. I would think the 16 would be even better.

No sense in worrying about buying a bike that no one has for sale.

I went from a 12 RMZ 250 to a 15 KTM 350 and was very very close to getting a 15 YZF 250 but I am very glad I went with the KTM

Well I've had a 12 13 14 and 15 rmz450, and I just made the switch to the 2015.5 FE, so I think I could answer this pretty well. I'm also pretty tall. I'm 6'4". So... The ktm makes the rmz feel like a heavy(but stable), slow 450. The KTM is a lot faster, and a lot lighter. It also corners relatively similarly. The big difference when you switch is how much softer the forks are on the ktm compared to especially the 14 rmz. IMO, the ktm feels less stable at high speeds stock because of this. But really, it will just take time to get use to, and will end up being better. The new ktm I unlike any other ktm. It feels SO much bigger than the 15s! I think you'd be happy with the switch. I want to get bar risers and lower footpegs, and I think that'd help solve my stability "problem"

I have 1/2" bar risors and Fastway lowered pegs. Good combo for fast guys.

I went from a 2011 RMZ450 (bought new in Nov 10 so I had almost 5 years on it) to a 16 KX450. I rode both the 16 KTM and 16 Kawasaki prior to buying it and I felt like both were superior to my Suzuki in every aspect but the KX felt more comfortable to me. I definitely noticed the KTM forks. They were the biggest reason I bought the KX. The TACs are much better than the 4CS. Other than that, the KX felt extremely stable and also seemed like it had more bottom to mid and the KTM was more mid to top. I prefer a low end motor so that was another reason the KX suited me better.
