'14 Anahiem II better than '90 Atlanta?

Edited Date/Time 1/18/2014 10:52pm
I was in attendance in Atlanta at the famous 90 supercross and believe that it is the best race in SX history. Anyone who was there or watched it know what I mean.

I can't wait to watch this race tonight again because I think it is close to topping Atlanta 1990. Not as many lead changes, but the intensity and win for Reed more than made up for that.

Thoughts?

I have to settle down a bit first, but WOW... that was NOT what I was expecting....kinda like Wardy winning Atlanta out of the blue. Yeah Reedy!

I don't know about that, but...I think you are on the right path. This has been one of the better SX races in recent times. Hope the rest of the season continues to provide surprises like this.

I predicted a podium and thought realistically he'd get 3rd-5th. So his win was a very pleasant surprise, but so was the excitement of the entire race. It was anyone's race to win, and Reed put his work in and happened to want it a little more than everyone else.

'90 Atlanta was a lot crazier with so many different leaders, and the passing was insane.. people coming up from mid pack to finish on the podium, including Wardy. Johnson being out there when we all knew it was pretty much over for him because of his wrist. You had Stanton, Chicken, O'Mara, Cooper.. it was such a stacked field and not a dull moment of racing. It was cold at Fulton County stadium that night, but once the race started we all forgot about that.

'14 Anaheim II didn't have as many crusty veterans.. Reed, Stewart were really the only older guys up front - Dunge, RV, Kenny, they are the next generation. But all of them were pretty close to the front at the start of the race. I don't think anyone could have run the pack from 12th to 1st tonight.
